torrence, the warzone is a very unique podcast experience. there are tonnes of fanboy nerds that would love to be able to voice their opinion live on a podcast. get the word out, have a countdown posted on N4G, showing the time remaining till the podcast goes live, and the topics going to be discussed etc. IT WILL BE HUGE! i love the warzone, i wake up at 4:30am(london time) every saturday morning to join in. don’t underestimate how special the warzone is tor, it may even evolve into something much bigger than you anticipated. you’ll feel very sore to see someone else successfully do the same thing under a different name. get the word out!!!

One thing that Stephen Totilo said to defend his claim is that Microsoft doesn’t have much lined up at GDC. His words “Microsoft isn’t booking many if any game demos for GDC this year” He goes on to mention Ninja Gaiden 2 and Too Human which were shown at last years GDC. He also says Microsoft isn’t doing that this year either because they have a thinner lineup or they’re doing a more nintendo-ish approach and holding their announcements back (possibly E3). Now i have no clue as to if what he is saying is true or not but if it’s true then at least he has something to back up his argument. Seriously who REALLY cares about the gametrailers comparison? They have been caught with there skirt down already why do people even still give them any credibility? Game comparisons are just lame unless like Torrence said there’s a blatant or vast difference. The average gamer doesn’t care or wouldn’t notice if a game has V-sync or AA! People are forgetting or underplaying the Unreal Tournament 3 DLC. It’s awesome they gave PS3/PC owners a huge update and best of all its FREE! Charging for shit that’s already on the disc is a sham! and charging for MODES is atrocious! Why did they even mention the versus mode a couple of days before the release? Then they sike’d everyone by saying oops it’s not free. Yeah but you also have to understand Torrence that when walmart enters into some of these communities they practically kill or put not just one mom/pop store out but several which in term hurts the community, plus most of the people who are going to get hired won’t even be from the community the walmart resides in. I freaking hate the rewind in Ninja Blade! It serves as a safety net for the game. I mean where’s the consequence in the QTEs why not just lose health or something i mean to just keep rewinding the gameplay is really weak imo. Anyone saying that this game is more EPIC then Ninja Gaiden 2 or God of War 2 are either stretching that point or their full of shit. There’s somethings in this game that plan ol’ tries too hard to come off as Epic when it really isn’t. Anyways the game is cool but imo not as EPIC as those other two franchises i mean i have some gripes with the game but overall it’s a buy or at its least a rental… Torrence that 200% jump is kind of bogus you mean to tell me that Microsoft in 4 years can only muster 866,167 (as of December 08). It’s safe to say they will reach 1 million sometime this year with the star ocean sales but the 200% percent increase your mentioning has to really be looked at it in it’s perspective it really isn’t that big of jump. Torrence from the 25th of December to January 4th White Knight Chronicles sold 310,000. Almost every game (except if it’s on a DS or PSP for some reason) drops in sales in Japan after it’s 2nd week. And usually it’s big drop… And Torrence the west is basically EU/US 360 18mill and PS3 14 mill last i checked. Also Square-Enix should be closing in on acquiring Eidos shortly probably by either months end or in April… So yeah there’s alot of home for square-enix to invade.
Also Tor just so everyone knows common failure rate for technology is 4-5%, that’s industry standards. So 16 % or whatever is still pretty fucking high, come on Microsoft WTF this number should have been much lower it’s going on 4 years…
The “guy on the corner” has high prices because he has to buy his products from places like Sam’s Club. Manufacturers don’t sell directly to the mom and pop stores. They instead do business with larger store chains. I don’t mind going to the corner store because it’s convenient and the owner is great. Props to you Tor for recognizing that people from Spain are white, but there are white people that live in Africa. They might mainly be in South Africa, but they are very much there. Microsoft is always going to surprise gamers, as they don’t have to keep on talking about their games since they are ahead of Sony in terms of console sales. -Gamestop’s executives are shrewd businessmen, but not gamers: that’s why they are becoming increasingly unpopular with gamers and now developers. -If developers want games to not be traded, they themselves need to add value to the game. I already suggested to a number of developers that -The Walmart point is very interesting, I also Don’t care about “Mom and Pop” stores as they oftentimes don’t support the communities they serve. - I agree about the whole “African zombies are still zombies” thing, but I have to give a few “for” and “against” points about the game: *First of all, if you don’t like it, don’t buy it, period. (for the game) * Not all zombies in RE were white until RE5; the cop who died slowly from his wounds in RE2(?) in the first hour or two in the game was black, so it was never 100% white; and if I’m not mistaken, he knew Chris Redfield. (2) they had a chance to reserve exclusives, and they failed. - Yes, Tor is right: the 360 would be capable of doing a game like the PS3, but not have as many levels. - I also said that the new consoles will last a long time; My argument was also based on the economy, in that if the next game consoles come out, they would likely not be bought. The fact that most people aren’t even full HD in their homes warrant giving the PS3 and 360 a longer time in homes… who’s going to buy the “next best thing” when they can’t even afford the things out now?

Pixel you make some very interesting points some which i didn’t even know about. How about developers stop giving a damn about traded game sales and wanting a piece of the pie. It’s called a business you can’t Have one’s cake and eat it too… You’re completely right Sony’s developer tools were more complex and wasn’t as developer friendly as Microsoft. As far as doing a game like Killzone 2 or better on a 360 it can be done. My issue is developers are already using Dual layered discs for the 360 and compressing data as it is. The more you compress the data the worse it will look when uncompressed and also add in the fact that not all 360′s have HD and that’s what makes it challenging. As newer engines and older engines get more mature we should see new tricks that developers can hopefully use to bring the quality pass killzone 2 on the 360 and even on the PS3. Multiplats always sell better on PS3 in Japan. If all those games were on PS3 and 360, day in day, no way does the 360 version even compare. See RE5 for proof. But yo, Torrence, what’s with the m’kay Mr. Macky like noise you make now? Is it a South Park reference? Every time you do it you have me cracking up.
Why, oh why, do you guys keep on with the 360 can do Killzone 2 visuals? I don’t recall anyone saying PS3 was capable of Gears type visuals prior to KZ2 gameplay being shown.

I think the sake of the argument is just all wrong, gamers should WANT to see 360 put out a game that is either graphically better/on par with killzone 2. You want forward progress and improvements to be made no one wants gaming to stay stagnant. BUT to bring up the debate just for Sony fanboys to shut up is just stupid! Yeah sony boasted saying certain games can only be done on PS3 and blue-ray and the cell and blah, blah, blah and quite frankly they have delivered titles to support their argument. We should all want 360 to deliver higher graphical quality and we all know graphics don’t make the games but gameplay does. Graphics is the big thing this generation with the inclusion and seemingly infectious HD everything marketing and with that said consumers want to see stuff on that 720/1080p HD set they spent their tax returns on. So yeah can the 360 make a better graphical game then killzone 2, maybe, we hope so but the answer shouldn’t be a definitive NO because until it hasn’t happened all any of us can do is speculate…. unless you develop and code for a living
listening to you guys and i think its one of the best podcast out there. well all of you guys are saying that sony will not announce any game in gdc since its closer to E3 but what about Team Ico? Team Ico are one of the developers that will talk in the gdc. Imo, i think they’ll announce a new game, hopefully similar to the type of game shadow of colossus is.
