I don’t care if you call yourself a game Journalist. The problem with some of the articles especially from HHG site is the people that do articles like Hydro can’t seem to comprehend that opinion doesn’t equal fact or actually doing any research to back up any claim they make. I mean come on don’t make an article about the doomsday concerncs about the 360 after the NPD for Jan was released and then have qoutes from usernames from some forum to back up your claims. If you can’t spell what the hell you are saying or take the time to spell check your article then you just show that you don’t care about quality. One or two mispelled words is one thing but when you claim you are a college student and you make statements in your article like “You are making a WHOLE for yourself”?????? Get my point? Yeah everyone can be Game Journalist but you have your bad apples that either don’t understand why they get called out for bad writing or pass of opinionated articles as fact. It is like watching American Idol trials and seeing a contestant try out that they really thing they can sing until you bring them down to earth. If you can’t even get the basics down to do an article then you need to find another hobby. I think your show is great Torrence but I question the members of Hiphopgamershow website and I see my opinions as legitimate complaints about the purpose of the website. I am leaving Iraq in a couple of more days and will be home soon. Looking forward to downloading the past shows on Itunes. Slow ass internet here.
Listening to the show now and I had to stop the show and get on here to comment. Torrence you are out of your F’ing mind if you think a FFVII remake wouldn’t move PS3s and wouldn’t sell. First off, saying everyone that wants an FFVII remake already has a PS3 is just plain asinine. You might as well have said everyone that wants God of War III already has a PS3. It’s not true. Most of my friends that have a 360 and don’t yet have a PS3 are waiting for a game like God of War or Final Fantasy VII before spending the 400 plus dollars. And considering how big the PS2 base was, and how relatively small the PS3 base is now, there is no way that everyone who enjoyed PS exclusives like FFVII, God of War, Gran Turismo, etc already has the system. Saying the game wouldn’t sell? Dawg, are you on crack or stupid? In that segment where everyone listed the game they’d take with them to their grave almost everyone said FFVII. C’mon now. In the N4G comments on the Warzone most people listed FFVII as one of their all time favorite games. FFVII is still beloved some 5 Final Fantasy’s later. You are truly out of your mind on that one. As far as FFXIII, I want it to come out when it’s ready. The fact that I have to wait for them to get a 360 version really sucks. And it’s different from GTAIV because we knew for the longest that the game was multiplat. FFXIII was built on the PS3 and is practically almost done on the PS3. I know the game isn’t going to be dumbed down to make both versions equal (thank god) but the fact that I may have to potentially wait until 2011 for it means I probably won’t even want it by then.

Im not sure a lot of people will buy Prototype. im getting Infamous cause i m more interested about the story and it a platformer open world game. About prototype seriously can anybody tell me whats the purpose of that game? all i see is a guy destroying a city, its mayhem, its cool, but the purpose??? anyways, im NOT getting Prototype. am getting Infamous.

@METtAL-GAMER, Prototype looks very good, but as graphics it dose not look better then Infamous. Gameplay looks intense in Prototype, but i don’t see any purpose is that game, i mean as a Story. btw, do you know whats the purpose of that game? i mean missions, story.

LO plays more like Legend of the Dragoon(execution of attacks) than an FF, but the whole world feels FF. And completely agree that it is amazing.(except for story) @everyone from the Warzone 31, yes Half-Life changed FPS, but Goldeneye paved the road on how multiplayer was played and simple FPS gameplay mechanics, just surprised all credit was given to Half-Life for how FPS are today, I think thats ridiculous.
I couldn’t possibly fit the games I love into a top 5 list. It’d have to be platform specific, due to the many amazing games on psx and snes. If I was gonna throw some games out there, I wouldn’t pick anything from this gen for sure. about Prototype: you’re Alex Mercer, you wake up in the hospital, you take to the streets and find you have all sorts of shape shifting powers, you also notice a bunch of infected people walking around and the military fighting them while trying to capture you. can anybody tell me whats the purpose of that game?
@lifendz – I said everyone that wants FFXIII already has a PS3. People purchased a PS3 to play FFXIII. This is the same crowd that are fans of FFVII. There’s no fucking way that a FFVII remake will move PS3′s. Do yourself a favor and look at the total worldwide sales of FFVII, then look at the total worldwide sales for FFX when the PS2 was over 100 million and lastly, look at the current worldwide install base of the PS3. After you’ve done all this research, come back and tell me if you still believe a REMAKE of a CLASSIC will move PS3′s. If the game is so great and so dear to many PS fans hearts, why would they want it remade? All the games that I LOVE as much as you love FFVII should be kept intact. I don’t want a remake of Strider or Tempest or Half-Life. They should stay exactly as they were because that’s how I remember them and that’s how they were when I first played them. @samsamurai – both Infamous and Prototype are great games. They are both open world 3D action games. Both characters have special abilities. Prototype plays much better IMHO. I will probably get both games but a lot of people might not. In Prototype, the protagonist wakes up on an operating table. He has no idea how he got there or what has been done to him. He then realizes that he has super powers. He’s pissed that he was experimented on and wants to find out who did it to him. In order to find clues, he absorbs people to get their memories. He uses the memories to get closer to the people who changed him so he can kill them. He’s also an anti-hero. He doesn’t care what it takes to get vengeance, as long as he gets it. Many innocent bystanders will probably get killed during your first run through of the game. @Klarklar – are you fucking kidding me? Great multiplayer was already established in FPS games. Half-Life’s splendor was it’s single player campaign. There was never a single player campaign with great cinematics and story telling until Half-Life came along. It changed the genre forever! And trust me, I had played them all up until then. As far as multiplayer goes, even though Goldeneye was great and Quake 2 did some great things, I think Counter-Strike also paved the way for games like COD4, Killzone 2 and Rainbow Six. Either you never finished Half-Life, never played it or played many other newer games before it and don’t understand the impact that it had. Know your gaming history and give proper respects to Valve for that. If I were to think of another game that helped, it would be Halo 1. Halo 1 is the reason the game is so popular today. Shit even Half-Life 2 was ground breaking. I can go all day man. Keep throwing stuff at me.
@torrence, Never took anything away from Half Life, I agree I was just shocked that Goldeneye was not given any credit for its work on MP. And yes later on counterstrike, halo, etc took the crown. But when i think of how FPS are today I think of Half life AND Goldeneye. Hope that clears things up. what games before goldeneye had amazing multiplayer in FPS’s(console wise)? jw, cuz personally I just cant think of one.
@Samsamurai I don’t know much about Prototype.Iv’e seen more of Infamous but from what I saw of Prototype it intrigues me more.I’m more interested in prototype than Infamous and Infamous is a comic-like game and I don’t care for comics.It’s kind of nerdy.If Infamous is a comic style game and I don’t like comics why would I be excited about Infamous?Maybe If I was a fan of comics then I might pick it up but that’s not the case.Prototype is supposed to be gory violence too and that’s more my speed.I hope that clears things up for you.Also the gameplay for Infamous looks like it will get boring after a while.

Still not convincing me but to each their own. I refuse to believe that people that want FFVII are the same people that want FFXIII. A good number of them are, but with FFXIII going multiplat, there’s no reason for them to pick up a PS3 if they don’t already have one for FFXIII. FFVII, on the other hand, as a PS3 exclusive would be huge. And, FFXIII is a confirmed game. VII is just rumor and speculation. If they ever confirmed a PS3 exclusive of FFVII was in the works the game would move units and hardware. Gratz on the traffic achievement.

SFIV is sold out on Amazon and it’s being sold by other sellers through Amazon for over $100. My brother doesn’t like shooters period. So Killzone 2 for him is a must skip. The Edge review wouldn’t persuade him either way. The FFXIII delay article was for Europe. Not North America. The game won’t even be out in Japan until sometime later this year. If there was a FF7 remake was made and it was exclusive to PS3 I know that it would increase sales for the PS3. Final Fantasy 7 as a brand is guaranteed money. Ok heres my opinion about the topics you guys. FFXII- It will sell systems, not a huge spike however. Why? RPGs haven’t been doing well compared to the past, and now people are more FPS-oriented in the western world. It will sell lots-o-system in Japan in my opinion, for the exclusive Wii owners. I agree w/ Torrence on the fact that many people who wants FFXII already own a PS3. Candid, what do you mean by there hasn’t been any memorable games out in a long time? My guess as to why you think that is because you were easily impressed with a good game when you were young, with so much crap. As the years go, its harder to produce a fun original game. My Top 5 games are my favorite of all time. It’s a ridiculous statement to say the top 5 games I’d take to the grave since games get better throughout the years. 1. Armored Core: Nexus 2. Call of Duty 4 3. Street Fighter: Anniversary Collection (3rd Strike) 4. Super Smash Brother N64 5. Donkey Kong Country SNES I think this site, and Torrence deserves some recognition. He’s not biased, though I get kinda annoyed whenever he use terms like true gamers and makes gaming sound like the war on terror. I mean it’s really not that deep of an issue IMO. I have no idea how HipHop has a following and why he think he’ll be bigger than IGN someday. I mean at least IGN gives REAL reviews, while HipHop gives Paint Drying Simulation 2 a 10/10.

Top 5 is hard to pick up but I’ll try my best: ( in no order) 1- Shadow of the Colossus, tor, tell whoever said there isn’t a great game since FF7 to play SOTC, this game is one of the most underapprecited games of all time. 2- Chrono Cross. 3- Suikoden 3. 4- the obvious game, Final Fantasy 7. 5- Metal Gear Solid 4. I had to do it, 5 isn’t much, I had to break the rules lol. 6- Indigo Prophecy. ———— Now for other topics. ———— Killzone 2 review build is at the same quality as the Killzone 2 demo, I have some friends who have the game, they live overseas and they told me it is the same as the KZ2 demo but some of them feel like the controls are a bit different and better than the demo. ——– As for Square-enix, I think it is bull, in 2010 we will see FFXIII for sure, the game is already confirmed to be released this year in Japan. And I think it is a Square decision for making FFXIII multiplatform because they have invested too much with the 360 and they lost alot of money with their investment so they are trying to build a bigger userbase with FFXIII. they are hoping to find a benifit for their big investment towards the 360 which is stupid to begin with, because if I were in Square’s shoes, I would fit in with Sony because I’ve established my biggest fanbase there, it is like Bungie convincing people to go with PS3 for Halo 4 for example just cuz they made it multiplatform. I think Square-Enix shot themselves in the foot the moment they said “hey how about we make our games to the wrong audiance console?” it doesn’t matter to me but from a business stand point, I would never take that risk but again business is all about wrong decisions and profit and loss. I hope Star Ocean 4 would change that, if SO4 doesn’t sell well, expect a big money loss from Square this year.

What’s good, from the Bay? Haven’t commented for a minute but I listen to the show every week. You guys are doing good shit, man. I respect your work. About the Edge review. A lot of people are talking about this, some people hate ‘em, some people don’t give a shit. What people don’t talk enough about is how the 1 through 10 system doesn’t work. Paul Wedgewood from Splash Damage confirmed that most websites score b/w 6-10 which means generally 1-5.9 doesnt’ exist. Edges’ scores are generally low because they’re using the whole 1-10. A 7 score is about 3 1/2 stars. If you have a 5 star system or something similar, 3 1/2 is not bad. To further illustrate my point the video game industries leading writers from N’gai Croal to Dan Hsu have been having an online debate about game reviews. Check it out. Google shawn elliott symposium. It’s a great read but what trips me out is how much disagreement there is from, supposedly, the best in the business about something as commonplace as game reviews. Edge might be a little inconsistent but it ain’t all their fault. And that write up they did about Metacritic was spot on. By the way, thanks for the shout out about the Microsoft – Viacom deal a few podcasts ago. - Nomad.
Shadow of the Colossus and ICO are two of the best games ever made. i’ve never wanted to finish a game just so i could know what happend next. even both of those games are made by the same team. there the best games ever made. ff7 and all those rpg games are just crap compared to Shadow of the Colossus and ico how many of you went back and bought a game for a 4th time yes 4th time. i have bought Shadow of the Colossus and sold it tomany times
Torrence is right i’ve been saying this for f*cking ever, why not just release the PS3 version because it’s already DONE! If FF XIII gets delayed anymore Square will have to make up so much in the public’s eye. This gen they have done nothing but FAIL! I understand that square wants to make a relationship with Microsoft but is it worth the risk of losing or alienating Sony…. And i know i’ll get a bunch of disagreements on this but too me MY Favorite FF was and will until further notice be FF 8. Hands down a way harder game then the other FF’s and Junction was a freaking awesome system.

Ok, it was a good show but there was some things Torrence said I have issue with, You said you pay for everything on PSN (WRONG) and after buying the Live subscription fee you get all your stuff for free (WRONG) Ok, so what you pay for a new T-Shirt in Home? There’s some free stuff on Home remember and MS charge people for themes and gamer pictures(you can get a few free ones). On PS3 however, you can download community themes which completely floor the premium themes on the Playstation store. “Final Fantasy VII on PS3 won’t shift units”… you’re talking shit right there. The only way that could be topped in Japan would be the Dragon Quest series continuing exclusively on the PS3. If that happened tomorrow, MS would basically have to concede Japan to Nintendo first…. then Sony of course. What point were you making with FFX with console 100 million units? You said something like that and I was like “WTF is he saying?”. Weapon X was correct, you were wrong. Final Fantasy VII exclusively on PS3 would shift units like crazy. You seen the FFVII PS3 Console sell like crazy, because Final Fantasy VII has a huge reputation. Half Life series is EXTREMELY OVER RATED! Now, that’s over, my top 5 games, in no order. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Best game ever) Final Fantasy X Super Mario Bros. 3 Mario Kart DS(I’d need to take a racing game) Metal Gear Solid 4:Guns of the Patriots That was very tough but Donkey Kong Country was next, the soundtrack on that was amazing.
