HDMI: To Cheap It Out Or Not
I’ve been telling people for the past few years to just purchase cheap HDMI cables for your PS3. I was never a fan of Monster Cable and thought their component cables were outrageously priced. I used basic RCA cables for my component hook up and never had a loss of quality. I thought the same would be the case for HDMI. I have some $20 cables and they display my video just fine. It wasn’t until I went to CES and had some long discussions with HDMI experts that I changed my mind about this. One of them, Dan Perrett, gave me an earful of information about HDMI. Because of this, I’m now a Monster Cable fan. Read the rest of this entry »

Review: Afro Samurai
Anime has began to rise in the American culture with television shows, magazines, and even video games. There have been many games to represent the anime feel that many of us love. Namco Bandai’s third-person action game, Afro Samurai, is another one of the many games to follow the steps of the anime culture. Read the rest of this entry »
Review: F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin (360)
In 2005, Monolith offered players a new take on the glutted FPS genre: a shooter with deep roots in Japan-native horror films like The Ring (Ringu) and The Grudge (Ju-on). F.E.A.R., short for First Encounter Assault Recon, put players in the role of a never-named Delta Force recon squad pointman, who in the course of his more prosaic military objectives was beset by hallucinations – some of them physically real – involving a strange, red-clad girl named Alma. Rather than give away too much about the original, I’ll simply say it’s worth a rental as catchup work for the sequel. Read the rest of this entry »

Get Lost Again

The original Lost Planet and its expanded version seemed to have limited popularity in the past two years (2.2M+), so Capcom is releasing the sequel for Xbox 360 (no mention of PC or PS3). The game picks up ten years after the original and will be tapping into Capcom’s newest dev tool. An upgraded multiplayer suite will include a 4-player coop campaign mode. Although the press release below does not indicate as such, some are stating that this will be DLC. Does that mean it will be like GTA IV:L&D or are some outlets confused? Forward-Compatibility, And What It Could Mean For The Next Consoles
If you noticed I have discussed a special feature that isn’t really new to the world of video games. In fact, Nintendo was the first to introduce this console feature in the N64 console but of course you had to buy it. It was called Expansion Pak, released in 1999. It improved more detailed graphics, had more modes, higher framerate, greater screen resolution and other goodies for Nintendo titles. This little feature was known has Forward-compatibility. It maybe returning to next generation consoles. Here’s the info: Read the rest of this entry »
