In my opinion true gamers could give a shit less about console wars. If you love gaming why do you care about sales? But I also understand that this is an unfortunate aspect of the gaming world today. So as a gaming site it is our duty to cover it. Even though I do think we put too much emphasis on it at times.
A true winner of the war,as so many of you would unfortunately like to see would be a TERRIBLE tragedy for millions of gamers. Why the fuck would any of you want that? Why would you want Sony, or MS to win and knock the competition out of the game a la Sega? Lately there has been many comments directed towards our Torrence Davis and Hip Hop Gamer regarding their stances on various topics. Most of them being MS and Sony, and the game Killzone 2. I love our readers and the feedback we get on from you, but some of the personal attacks are really ridiculous and make you, not us, look foolish.
So I would love to ask all of you, what do intend to accomplish with your fanboy tactics and slander? The games you most anxiously await would have never been created, never look nearly as great as they will look if it were not for the intense competition that we have going on right now. If Sony or MS were to announce tomorrow that they were going away all of that pressure to innovate would be over in an instant. Why spend if you can just glide on through without anyone to challenge you and sell copies because there really no other choice.
So before you start typing a response fanboys. Remember that we will own you every time, and we will rub your face in your own shit and embarrass you in front of your peers.

i don’t own a 360, but i currently own a ps3 and high end pc, i played gears 2 and halo3 at my friend’s house and think
that they’re 2 of the most overrated games(not bad games) i’ve come across in some time, gears2 with it’s broken multiplayer(had this been a ps3 game it certainly would have been given very harsh reviews for that) and halo3 with it’s average gameplay and way way way overrated story, but hey, that’s my opinion and no less valid than yours.
just to put it out there, the reason i don’t own a 360, is that i am totally against the idea of having to pay for online multiplayer and video chat, and to add insult to injury the 360 is a flawed piece of hardware, i’m surprised it’s still allowed to be sold, but that’s america for you. lol jk jk

competition is great, and only a fool would think otherwise, it’s one of the main forces that drives technology forward(aside from wars) and prices down.
the thing i find annoying, is that the gaming media bash on the ps3, its features and it’s games all the fucking time, they are the ones that act like they “would want to see people lose out by a company going under”.
I think the reason you see the media say what they say about Sony is due to the fact that it was fully expected that they would have run away with this Gen. I compare it to sports, when a great football team loses its never how great the opposing team was its always about what the expected great team did to lose. It is the same syndrome here, when you have such high expectations, and you fail to reach them expect to hear this type of reaction.
That is why you hear the negative reactions to Sony right now.
My whole thing is if you love games you really shouldn’t give a shit what is said. Play your system, why do people defend consoles like they are there own fucking kids. Its a computer that plays games. That is all. I chose to get all of them because I wanted to play all the content available to me. It doesn’t make me any better than you. I want to know why it becomes personal for people. Its a device, not my wife, kids, friends or my mom. I hold no emotional attachment to it. Now games are what deliver the story and that I bond with.

I personally don’t see a problem with liking a certain console but I do see a problem with wanting the others to dropout.I’m a Yankee fan and don’t want any other team other than my yankees win so competition isn’t bad and to some extent being a fanboy is what drives most of these companies to improve there business.

i don’t usually play multiplatform games on the ps3(the only ones i have are GTA4 and POP), especially FPS games, i’m a pc gamer first and foremost, never did i claim that the ps3’s online is better than the 360’s, i don’t know where you got that idea from? what i did say is that not having free online is one of the main reasons i don’t own a 360. and if you were to play cod4 or TF2 or L4D on pc and then play it on 360, it’s also a night and day difference. you also said “Everything else you say about the ps3 and 360 is just pure bias” could you please give me one such example?

It’s these type of things people should be telling the developers and companies to fix weather its 360, ps3 or wii.Gamers do have power you know.
I completely agree and I think “The War” is pointless. You’re not going to be able to change the mind of a fanboy and it’s just going to be a pointless, endless battle… until they release a new system, then the battle just starts over again.
I believe that all three main systems have a purpose and I can’t say there’s one I like more than the others.
I do think one day the war will calm down emensely. All the fanboys will have left to argue about will be trivial bullshit. Like console color or size, or how the controller feels in there permacurved handjob ridden hands.
Sometime in the future technology in gaming will follow a standard. This will happen in computers too, companies like Sony and MS will use Intel Chips and end the manufacturing of expensive IBM and Custom Cell architecture. Sooner or later the hardware just isn’t going to mean as much anymore, and as exclusives continue to go multi-platform the attention that we give to hardware will die. The fanboys will try to keep the war alive but won’t have much to stand on to support their claims.
Unless we see more of the Nintendo strategy where there is a system that adopts unorthodox methods of controlling our systems, and is the new fad of the decade.
Sony and MS will do what apple has already done and kicked the custom processor shit to the curb. Why spend on all that R&D when intel can and already has shit in the pipeline that is better than anything they will ever make. Intel is 10 years ahead of the game, expect to see them dominate. Sony has resisted the jump because im sure they don’t want to put an American chip in their console, but that will change someday I assure you.
If you fanboys are going to try to say that Sony can develop a better chip than Intel you might as well just leave and not come back because you are really being foolish. I’m not sure why MS has not done this already but I suspect we will see them do it, maybe by the next Gen.
Apple got out of the IBM Processor market because it just doesn’t make sense anymore. Why fight for the sake of fighting? Thats what Sony and MS are doing right now, burning money just for pride.

if you looked at the history of the companies that you’re talking about you’d have realised that making custom chips for the playstation is part of sony’s dna, but certainly not microsoft’s, they on the other hand just copy the next best thing. i’ll give you an example, when the cell was in it’s early stages of development, MS went to IBM, well after sony and toshiba funded the R&D, and got the bluprints of the PPE in the cell and used it to make their own CPU(the xenon), so microsoft did not pay for any R&D for their system, and your claim of microsoft and sony spending on R&D is incorrect, MS didn’t spend anything on R&D. and it costed $400million

The only “Wars” that should be going on in the game’s industry is developer wars. In the end, it’s all about the games anyway. I picture it being like having a favorite hockey team among many, all playing in the same league, all trying to out-do eachother.
One console for the hardcore crowd means no fighting over ” which system’s more superior, and what games run better on which”, it’d be a case of “dev team A is making a game in this genre, which dev team B has dominated in for years with Title X, can team A capture the crown from the crew of team B ?!”
THAT’S what I wanna see. More focus on the studios churning out great games for everyone to play. All on a single platform.
Here’s how it’d go down (according to this gen):
Sony, MS, EA, and other major developers/publishers meet up with each other and present their desired tech specs and functions for the upcoming next-gen’s console. They throw ideas around about what type of hardware it’ll contain. The requests are then sent to chip manufactures (Intel, IBM, whoever). Each manufacturer who accepts the task throws back some possible solutions to the Dev/publisher group’s needs for the upcoming generation’s console. They make a decision, and then they MAKE THAT SHIT WORK!
Then all the companies and developers just churn out those games and compete and innovate and rake in their software sales dough.
Who makes the money off hardware sales? I don’t know. Maybe someone can think something up. I was just having fun with the idea..

There have been and always will be fanboys, in and out of the gaming industry. I wouldn’t blame the makers of the systems, but the devs who FAIL to utilize the true potential of the systems. I am damn well surprised at Secret Level’s failure in this generation, because they did so great back in the PS1/PS2 era. Same goes for Factor 5 and a few others to boot.
