Everyone remember the dawn of gaming, where you could run to your personal gaming device that you had purchased? Where gaming on computers were just getting it’s start in the history books, and when everything was timeless in our eyes, like it couldn’t get any better. Well, a game that was once released on the PDP-10, PC and Commodore 64 gets a second chance, and for a very good cause in mind, to help those who really need our help. WSJ says PS3 is fading.

There is of course the matter of strong PSP sales to consider, but this is really potentially pretty big news.  Holiday was always the quarter in which PS1 and PS2 totally dominated the market.  I don’t think anyone expected that to happen this year with the Wii’s massive success, but Sony themselves were predicting a strong Q4 08 to basically pull them through.  There’s always the notion of after-Christmas sales, but without a price drop I tend to agree with WSJ that the lean economy is hurting potential sales of higher-dollar electronics, especially now that BD players are far more cheaply obtainable than a PS3.

Is this the death of a gaming dynasty?

With the amount traffic that Kotaku gets, they still feel the need to bait their readers in with controversial news headlines. Today the headline was, “Former Capcom Employee Talks Sexuality of Street Fighter IV Developer’s President.” This came from an interview with Yoshiki Okamoto that was posted on 1up.com on 12/26/2008. As I was browsing Gamefaqs earlier this morning, I came across a post by a user there regarding Xbox 360 games for cheap at Blockbuster.com. One such game that poster referred to is The Orange Box (new). The promotional code “HOLIDAYSURPRISE” will take 30% off your order. When applied to The Orange Box, which is normally $17.70, the total price (if you choose free first class shipping) comes to $13.35, including tax. This price may vary slightly depending on your states’ sales tax, but it’s an amazing deal either way.

This code seems to work with anything, so you can swoop up some great games for cheap, even newer titles! Gears of War 2 and Resistance 2, for example, are selling for $61.99 and $63.99 respectively, but with the promotional code, they come to $46.75 and $48.26, including tax and free shipping!

For some reason, the Blockbuster.com site is as slow as a 56K modem, but your patience shall be rewarded with great deals! Hurry up because I doubt this code will last much longer.
