OMFG the little website that could! Thanks to Kikizo, all of you bleeding heart, immature, ignorant fanboys can SHUT THE FUCK UP! Kikizo did an interview with Square-Enix heads, Yoshinori Kitase and Shinji Hashimoto. They asked some pretty important questions and they got the answers that I have been force feeding into fanboys already. Let’s highlight some of the important parts of the interview.
For all you PS3 fanboys who are pissed that the game went multiplatform and is now being delayed, feast your eyes on this statement:
Kikizo: It’s well known by now that FFXIII is no longer PS3 exclusive. Some PS3 fans are extremely disappointed, and have become quite vocal about their dissatisfaction. What would you say to them?
Hashimoto: I’d rather they not think of this as a “betrayal” or disappointment. It’s not like we’re cancelling or delaying the PS3 version at all! It’s more of an added bonus for 360 fans. We won’t be putting them at a disadvantage in any way.
This next statement is for those who think that the PS3 version will be dumbed down like their brains. I already said after E3 that developers are utilizing the power of each console for their multiplatform titles. Here’s more proof:
Kitase: I’d like to add… I think that maybe because it’s going multiplatform that some fans are worried about the game’s scope being reduced to fit onto both consoles. The fact is, the PS3 version is what’s in development right now, and the team is working to specialize that version to the very best of the PS3’s abilities. After that, we’ll do the 360 port and optimize it to that particular hardware. There will be no decrease in quality as a result of the game appearing across two platforms.
Lastly, for those who think Blu-Ray makes better games, you’ve been wrong! I’ve said it for months and now here’s the proof straight from the horses mouth:
Kikizo: Has the expanded capacity of the Blu-way format had any effect on the game’s presentation?
Hashimoto: Blu-Ray’s additional storage capacity doesn’t matter as much as the strength of the hardware itself. In the past, we could only create really high-quality cinematics as prerendered CG. But now, we can move that high-quality CG into realtime. We can portray large monsters and expansive, lush environments. So, the hardware is definitely a key element in the progression of the presentation quality.

Torrence blu ray does make for better games. They said it doesn’t matter AS MUCH as the strength of the ps3. So he means it still matters but the ps3 power itself just matters more. The bioshock devs said they used blu ray for high quality videos,etc

Blu ray has a lot to do with how well a game is look at the detail in uncharted or the how pretty the cut scenes are in mgs4, Iam all for opinion but you are always on the 360’s nuts I’ve never herd you give props to sony Iam no fanboy, but you clearly are you always talk about opinion but are quick to call someone a fanboy because of it the only real gamers on this site are hiphop and weapon x.
@Young – Where in this post did you see any fanboyism from me? Did I say anything negative about the PS3? Nope. Did I say anything positive about the 360? Nope. So how is anything I said fanboyish? If you’ve listened to any Warzone episodes you would realize that I do not believe Blu-Ray makes games look better. Period. I’ve yet to see anything that looks good because of Blu-Ray. Blu-Ray is a storage medium, it’s a convenience that allows developers to put more game on one disc instead of several discs like Lost Odyssey. Of course you can get 1080p video playback from Blu-Ray but that doesn’t make the GAME look better. Square-Enix just proved that for everyone. It has everything to do with the PS3’s power itself and not Blu-Ray.
BTW, I told you we have balance here. I’m pro 360 because HHG is pro PS3. If you want an all PS3 show, go to PS3 fanboy or N4G.

Most Blu-Ray games are under 25gb. Shit, most are probably under 15gb. Do you know how you fit a 15gb game on a DVD9 without loss of quality? Compress the data. Compress the data. Compress the data and not the textures like that fool over at id is doing because he’s too cheap to add a 3rd disc. Blu-Ray is a convenience. It makes it easier for devs to make big games without the need for cutting extra discs. I said it before and I’ll say it again. Lost Odyssey is over 30gb, looks beautiful and didn’t require Blu-Ray. There are games out there that are under 9gb that are still put on Blu-Ray. Do you think they look better because they are on Blu-Ray? The fucking beta for Killzone 2 is 449mb or some shit and it’s still the best looking FPS to date. I could put KZ2 on my thumbdrive on my keychain. Shit, I could store it on a regular CD and it’s still the best looking FPS ever made. Still think PS3 games need Blu-Ray? Do you still think Blu-Ray makes games look better? Do you still think Blu-Ray ALLOWS games to look better? How come no one has ever said that the graphics processor and RAM and SPE’s aren’t responsible for PS3 games looking so good? Because they are blinded by that fucking Blu-Ray disc. It’s nothing more than a storage medium that was designed to play Hi-Definition movies, just like DVD was and just like the CD was for music. They are using the advantage of the space on these mediums for games and have been since the first CD based game. It was far more CONVENIENT to install a huge game off of a CD than floppy discs. WOW came out on four CD’s and then finally was released on DVD. The DVD didn’t make the game better, it made it more convenient for the developer to distribute and more convenient for the user to install. Blu-Ray is doing the same thing. It won’t be long before we see Blu-Ray pc games.
Blu-Ray doesn’t make games look better or even allow them to look better. The option of installing off of multiple DVD’s is still there. One of the greatest games of all time according to RPG fans is FFVII and that was on multiple discs…cd’s as a matter of fact. And if the PS1 had a DVD drive it would have been 1 DVD but looked the same.

Graphics don’t matter! Gameplay is all that matters. Sound and graphics are eye and ear candy. They add to the synergy of a great game but the bottom line, the thing we PLAY for is the gameplay.

I Totally agree with Torrence on the convenience of high storage, but the fact that it exists does add the potential of making games bigger..But developers don’t seem to take much advantage of it. And yeah, you can slap a huge game on multiple discs, or put it on one disc. That’s pretty much the extent of it.
After playing Fallout3 and Oblivion, it’s not hard to tell that at this point in gaming technology, it’s all up to the devs. If they want to put a huge game on one disc compressed, they’ll do it. Blue-ray is such a double-edged kind of product y’know? I’m probably 50% against it. I like the games this gen is offering, I don’t really care for 360, nor do i want that blu-ray drive in my ps3 half the time, man…..I just want one awesome console to play my games on, who gives a shit about the format?.
Lets watch developer wars instead, guaranteed we’d see that blu-ray get put to good use finally.
The big 2 are probably losing more on the consoles than anything else (nintendo is’nt one of the big 2, they’re a filthy rinse and repeat magic trick, hardly in the same league, and they know it).
Blu-ray? HDDVD? Shit, why not just combine efforts into one console, and wage war making great games instead of excluding gamers? Every 6 years or so the all meet up, belt out some designs, and on to the next gen we go!

Adding to that multidisc thing. I know when I see like 4 discs to a game I just look at it and say “wow…must be pretty epic, 4 discs? wow!.”
Nowadays that isn’t the case anymore. Now when I see it, it’s get getting a download that’s split into multiple parts, and knowing it can be all rolled into one instead. That’s kinda how i feel about the whole blu-ray/HDDVD thing for games. I know 99% of games are way overhyped these days, and seeing 4 discs I have to ask “is it REALLY necessary, I KNOW this isn’t a 40 rpg, so why?”
Brings me back to the one console thing again. Back when psx had those discs ( I say psx because well shit..n64 only had a couple good games, hardly worth the money imo), it was cool, kinda like tear-away pants and big-ass bulky cell phones. Nowadays, it just isn’t necessary, and more of a hassle than anything..
i MIGHT have learned something here… compression doesn’t sacrifice game quality??? hmm
and yes torrance i know most games now don’t need blueray… ur straying from my point, I’m saying… take uncharted, yes good old uncharted, WMD for fanboys… it needed the space of blueray to look that good, like i said earlier i’ don’t think blueray is any better than a hard drive or any other storage medium of its size, but that size(space) does matter and will start to matter more, the better looking the games get…

I absolutely agree that gameplay is VERY important in all games, but just as important (to me and many others) is getting awwed by beautiful visuals, seeing special effects that are jaw shattering, and feeling the line between what u are playing and reality slowly fading… with poor visuals its harder for that line to fade as far as I’m concerned.
as for what we “play for”, last time i checked, we’re looking at the screen just as much as we control the pad…
a great looking game with shitty gameplay sucks just as much as a shitty looking game with great gameplay

as for the delay it is also a complete and utter lie to the faces of the PS3 owners, the game will be complete for Japan early next year but they will release for NA and EU simtounously with the 360, they will not release it ASAP, nooooooo, they are taking direct orders from MS to delay the game for PS3 until they finish porting the game for the 360 version.

I like the return of the old battle system which is a great sign for the game.

I know the Japanese version of FF 13 will be out on time, because I remember them stating this. But does this apply to the American and European version.
As far as Blu ray, I think it’s more of a luxury rather than a necessity, but it’s a welcome necessity. I mean we don’t need a bigger hard drive, but it’s nice to have because we can install more games for better loading, we can download more stuff, and we can add more stuff to make our system multimedia devices. And I’m sure you can compress PS3 games to fit on a standard DVD, but compressed data can never achieve the dynamic contrast of raw uncompressed data whether it’s data, audio, or video.
Some compression is good, because it makes important things stand out more. But when you compress everything it becomes cluttered and everything is fighting for attention. Uncompressed data gives you a better dynamic range, and overall better quality, which is why Blu ray space can and will eventually make for better games.

I wasn’t the one that said all PSN games launch with problems, that was Candid Anthony. I played Resistance 2 day 1 with no problems.
I didn’t buy either console on launch date. That was HHG. I bough my 360 almost a year after it was released, same with PS3. I would never spend $600 on a console unless it had a dick sucking interface.
