In Activision Blizzard’s new “Guitar Hero World Tour,†players have used the new music-creation capabilities to riff on tunes from “The Legend of Zelda,†Pokemon†and yup, you guessed it, “Super Mario Bros.†And just as quickly, these songs were removed from GHTunes, the game’s online sharing site. In Sony’s “LittleBigPlanet,†gamers made and uploaded levels that paid tribute to “Sonic the Hedgehog,†“Grand Theft Auto,†and, yes, “Super Mario Bros.†And in many cases, those levels were removed by moderators — often without warning. Gamers in these nascent communities were furious. MSNBC

They should be furious. That’s completely ridiculous!
You know those levels such as Mario Brothers? There was one that must have took days to make. Apparently they were just erased, even removed from the moon you build on. No trace. So the person that made those levels cant even play it on their own system. Sony wiped those mother fuckers out.
I had no idea they have that kind of power to wipe something saved on your drive.
Leave it to sony to do some shit like that. I mean they hype the game up as you make what you want and share what you want and then when people make what they want sony gets scared of lawsuits and erases them? Thats just utter bullshit! At least warn them that you are going to take it down give a reason and inform the public why the content is being taken down so no one else wastes their time making levels that are going to be taken down. Then to just erase it off of their hard drive as well is insult to injury and is not right and if you really look into it illegal. Sony sure knows how to stick a foot in their own asses.
I think something like .5% of levels have been moderated.
It is impressive how the internet can blow shit out of proportion though.
So people will have to make original levels in LBP…as much as I like tribute levels, there is something to be said for genuine creativity.
It’s not Sony doing the moderating BTW, it’s Media Molecule.
And a lot of people are having levels deleted because they are pricks who hammer the “good greif” button at the first opportunity. People often abuse features to cause other people to suffer. The “good greif” reporting idea is a good idea, but it is very BROKEN in it’s current state.
who do you think is making media molecule do that? Sony
It doesnt matter if it was 1% if i pay 60 bucks for a game that was based solely on creating whatever i want and sharing it then thats what im going to do. If i want to make a tribute level that my purgative. if you want to take it off the servers fine but to actually erase my hard effort and work off my personal hard drive is utter bullshit and is no excuse for it period! Then to not even warn any one that its going to happen is bullshit too.
