Warzone #21 - What’s Your Definition Of Hardcore Gamer?
by Torrence DavisOn today’s show we talk about hardcore gaming and what it really means. Can a single console owner still be a hardcore gamer? Blip74 from Games On Smash thinks so and gets into a heated debate about it with the Bitbag crew.
This show included our pre-show warmup and total time is 2hrs and 45mins!
Also on this show:
- The fallout of Fallout 3. Torrence tells us why PS3 owners who boycott Fallout 3 are idiots.
- Candid Anthony talks about why Fable 2 is the hottest game available on any console right now
- Hiphopgamer discusses the Gears Of War 3 multiplatform rumor and drops some other heavy rumors too. He also talks about why Bioshock for PS3 should have had more content and looked better after a year of development

hardcore usually means above and beyond or really into
so translating that into gamers means someone who’s biggest hobby or most of their time spent either playing games or involved in gaming somehow
Resistance 2 beta, I was disappointed with how it looked and “felt”/played
Someone told me it’s an earlier build and beta is used to test servers…hopefully that’s TRUE
It felt like i was on ice skates while moving and weapons didn’t have that strong OOOMPF type feel to them like my favourite game Battlefield Bad Company feels
About posting the ending to Gears.
The same thing was done to MGS4 in May. (The game was’nt released til Jun 12th)
Where was that topic?
*I’m typing as i listen*
With what Fat said. He just reiterated that it is a dev issue. Devs create the games, not the machines.
With his “backpack & Tokyo” analogy. Gamers don’t care where the backpack is. If a game is multi. It should be the same on both platforms. No if, and, or buts about it.
In a nutshell. If you disagree, ultimately you’re saying. If a game comes out shitty it’s strickly the hardware and NOT the dev. Which is the exact opposite of what i’m saying.
Hip-hop is right though. If you can’t make them the same don’t do it.
Don’t use me (a gamer) as a lithmus test. My $60 can be spent elsewhere.
Candid Anthony:
By showing the Resistance 2 ending u are showing that your just as bad as the fanboys and your ruining the game for not just the fanboys but also the fans and multi console owners that want’s to play the game.
Don’t stoop down to their level.Your just going to make everything worse and the next thing u know the ps3 fanboys will do the same thing back to u with the next halo and then the 360 fanboys will end up doing it with god of war 3.

I liked all the issues you guys touched on this episode. I cannot believe those spiteful bastards posting the endings to games. That’s just pretty low in my opinion. The metacritic score is a bit annoying, but does anyone really take that seriously? We all know it’s just caught in the middle of a fanboy war. They gave Fable 2 like a 6.3 or something, I have absolutely fallen for Fable 2. The game is god damn amazing. Also, I don’t think it matters if we’re hardcore gamers as long as we’re gaming. Anyhow, good show, I look forward to next week.
agghhh stupid fanboys, god even if i own one console and yeah i used to own a 360 but got rid of it because of the RROD so i’m not a fanboy. but damn, give Microsoft its credit for the games that is has, and so what if it doesn’t look as good as its counterparts, just play the game, can we just have the damn jay and silent bob moment and go whoop some. and all that talk about fable 2 shit i need a 360 again.
And that resistance 2 beta omg I’m loving it, i just can’t wait
I agree with you, posting the ending its stupid. and i kinda saw the credits for Gears 2 and that made me wanna get just to see what happens it’s like getting a sneak peak, to a show, and damn, my wonders about what happen, i might just borrow somebodys 360 and play the hell out of gears, this is funny i want a game but i dont have the system
but good show can’t wait
PSN: J-Tastic
oops can’t wait till next weeks show
Your show is hot and you need to do your game reviews because IGN is full of crap!!
Good show, you need to get that PS3 Fanboy clown off the show that said a hardcore gamer doesnt have to have all consoles. Waste of time sitting there waiting for him to form his point. Each week same shit
The pre show recording is classic!
core - Anyone who identifies themselves as a gamer
extended - Anyone who bought a Wii/Ds for things like Brain Age and Wii Fit
hardcore gamer - Anyone who plays games alot
casual gamer - Ayone who plays games infrequently or for short periods
hardcore game - doesn’t exist, any game can be played in a casual fashion, or a hardcore fashion
i have a friend who is pretty much a casual gamer. he has an xbox 360, gears of war, bioshock, the like. he also has a wii with games like the legend of zelda, metroid prime, wii sports, and wii play. what makes him a casual gamer in my eyes is the fact that he plays all his one player games on the easiest setting, has a crap gamerscore, and hardly ever plays.
on the other hand, there are people i k now who just have a wii and wii sports, and i would consider them much more of a hardcore gamer than the person i just mentioned above. they are for the simple fact that they figured out how to get a perfect 300 in wii bowling. i mean that is crazy. i guarantee none of you would be able to get that score in wii bowling.
my point is that any game could be played casually and any game could be played hardcore. it doesnt matter what the game is, it matters who is playing it and to what extent they take their gaming whether it be first person shooters, rpgs, or just party games.
