I’ve always been a big fan of the Namco Museum since the PS1 days. Recently Microsoft pulled a lot of titles off of XBLA, including some Namco favorites. I had to wonder why they made that decision but wonder no more, Namco has just announced Namco Museum: Virtual Arcade. It comes with 30 classic games including 9 games from the XBLA and 21 games from their library. At a price of $29.99, you are paying less than $1.00 per game. Earlier today The Inquirer quotes well placed sources as saying that Google was going to be buying Valve “any second now,” setting all of our hearts a flutter. While the idea seems crazy at first blush Valve’s Doug Lombardi has said they’re willing to be bought. So we checked in with Lombardi himself this morning and he put our minds at ease, telling us it is purely a rumor, a bit of fiction.

Capcom has done a wonderful thing, they’ve decided to remake a lot of their classics. Dipping into the brown bag of goodies is always good and Capcom proves that they are a fully capable developer. We’ve seen rehashes of Commando, Bionic Commando and now 1942. Is 1942: Joint Strike a weak attempt at cashing in on the XBLA cow or has Capcom hit gold once again on one of their oldest shooters? If you grew up playing Neo-Geo and SNK games in the arcade as a young lad then I shouldn’t need to tell you that SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1 will be  a huge blast from the past.  Personally I was never big into SNK games, nor did I own a Neo-Geo but I do remember rocking a few of these games from time to time at the arcade, especially Baseball Stars and Fatal Fury.
