I agree that the PS3 is a more than capable system. But with programmers making games on mostly Windows based PCs and of MACs running on Intel chipsets the easiest thing to do is start with a PC and 360 version and then port the game to PS3 at a later time. I love both systems but will always buy a 360 version first not because of gameplay or graphics but just because I love the 360 controller so SONY I hate my DualShock3...but what can we do, right? LoL
But to be fair I would say to the programmers to make the game for the system that it would be the hardest first and then easly port it to the easier system(s) and launch both at the same time with equal quality and performance.

Great article man, agree completly. Ps3 games need more time in development, but 3rd party games usualy work on a time limit so they cant spend all that time perfecting the ps3 version.

I agree with you 100%. Most PS3 developers didn't get their PS3 Dev Kit until 6-12 months before the PS3 was launched, so they didn't have enough time to learned the hardware or software of the system. That explains why many of the PS3 launch titles were crap. At the end of next year and beyond, we really should be seeing the cream of the crop for the PS3. All that waiting may pay off for 3rd party developers and gamers. I still don't see the PS3 being another PS2, but it should do very well once the price gets below $300. I'm praying they get that Ghostbusters game completed and published. It's too bad they aren't doing another movie.

This is a very informative and well structured article that you posted Torrence. I just have to say that this is all politics and to be honest, I really hate it. 3rd party developers can to do better on the PS3 like you pointed out Torrence. Actually the only 3rd party developers I know that pushed the PS3 in my opinion were Infinity Ward and Kojima Productions.
