Perhaps an "F" was too harsh, but I want to push Atari into really taking their time to create a work of art. Dragon Ball Z is the perfect choice out of all other fighting games, including Street Fighter, for all out 1 on 1, power crazy fighting. Reason why I say that, is because the anime holds a lot of value of what a fighting game could be about or that others could learn from it to create their own. I don't mean that it's the best representation, but it's been around a lot longer than most others and gone through incredible changes.

As for getting rid of the cell shading, I completely agree. Make the next DBZ game look real, but still have that feel from the anime. Adding in bruises, cuts, etc.

"Here’s another suggestion, create a whole new DBZ game but have new villains and stages. A totally new story mode never before seen or heard of in the DBZ universe"

Well, they can't really put new characters in a DBZ game that have never been seen or heard of in the DBZ Universe because then it wouldn't be a true DBZ game. The developers basically stuck to what the original creator Akira Toriyama did with the DBZ games in terms of characters.

But I do think that there needs to be more environmental effects like you described. For instance, while you are powering up, the wind should start picking up and each time you ascend to a higher powerlevel (like going from Super Sayian to Super Sayian 2), the effect on the environment should also increase with higher winds, rocks elevating in the air, the ground shaking, destructible environments, etc....

I'm a huge DBZ fan as well and have been for many many years and the last DBZ game I bought was DBZ Budiokai 2 back in 2003 or 2004... to me most of the DBZ games all feel the same and there hasn't been enough upgrades in the gameplay to make me justify buying another DBZ game.

The Ultimate DBZ game would have all (or most of) the characters in the DBZ Universe with all the environmental effects in the game taking place with destructible environments....Also I think that the gameplay /character movements in DBZ should be much faster because in DBZ, the punches and kicks fly at really high speeds, but in the game everything feels slow compared to the pace of the fight scenes in the cartoon.

And one more thing that they should add in a future DBZ game.... REAL TIME DAMAGE! Bruises, Clothing tears and Clothes being able to get ripped off, Sweat glistening off the characters in a long battle, being able to get dirty when knocked down in the ground and a little Blood. Even if they have to make the next DBZ game rated M, so BE IT! The Uncut Episodes of DBZ are much more bloody and violent than the Edited versions and that's the way the game should be.

And just one more thing, Some people may disagree with me on this, but I think that the developers need to get rid of the Cell Shaded characters. The Cell Shaded characters make it feel like you are actually playing the DBZ cartoon, but I think that a DBZ game could have the potential of being more realistic if they got rid of the Cell Shading.

I want the next DBZ game to be of EPIC porportions because a DBZ game deserves much better. I'm not sure if this game deserves an F, but I would probably give it a C or a D...maybe a C since I'm a DBZ fan.

Wow. I reviewed the latest Wii edition and I had similar sentiments. Why are they skimping on a franchise that could be so awesome. They are doing such amazing things with Naruto. Why is DBZ getting the shaft?
