Night Cap 07/18/08 - Every Developer Has Stepped Up Their Game
by Torrence DavisThis is my post E3 wrap up. I have so many things that I’m going to write about over the next few days and then it’s off to the Comic Con for more madness. I would like to start off by saying this years E3 is one of the best I’ve been to in years. The way it is set up has given us access to people we may have never SEEN at the larger Disneyland type shows. I can’t begin to list the people I shook hands with and talked to at the show. What I realized was that the video game industry is a microcosm of Hollywood. Everyone involved in the game industry is a celebrity in their own right. Whether you are a journalist, marketing person, developer or high level exec, you are considered a star among your peers.
Getting interviews has never been easier. I walked past Peter Moore, shook his hand and told him to keep up the good work. I took time to say hi to Shane Kim at The Who concert the other night. I connected with Ryan Davis and Jeff Gerstmann of Giant Bomb. They are two really cool guys. I ran into Kazunori San and almost had an interview with him at Sony’s booth. It was just incredible!
I’d like to note a couple of things that I saw. First the mind blowers. Killzone 2, Project Origin, Resident Evil 5, Farcry 2 and Sonic Unleashed are probably better than anything I’ve seen in 2007. These developers are really learning to harness the power of the PS3 and 360. From this point on you really shouldn’t see any difference multiplatform titles. I remember writing that Hideo Kojima has stuff in MGS4 that all developers should be doing or trying to outdo. Well it’s happening and you are all in for a treat starting this fall. I can’t stress it more, right now is a GREAT time to be a gamer. Please, stop all the fanboy bullshit and ENJOY the games! If you can, try and purchase BOTH systems. If you don’t, you will be missing out on something amazing. While Sony has more first party exclusives, Microsoft still has a few of their own which are all worth buying. Play and enjoy is all I can say.
I should be arriving back in Boston tomorrow morning. There will be several updates this weekend. I will be posting some previews, video interviews and hopefully getting our E3 Best Of Show awards posted by Sunday. The footage that we have of Hiphopgamer is legendary. If you thought the Aaron Greenberg and Chris Paladino interviews were great, you haven’t seen anything yet. The Major Nelson 1 round boxing match should be going up this weekend. There’s a shitload of other stuff that will be posted all next week. Andrea Rene also had a presence at the show and got us some great interviews with developers and legends.
I’d like to thank you for the support of thebitbag.com. We are trying our best to bring you something DIFFERENT and not the same old crap that so many other sites are pushing. Keep your eyes and ears peeled!
Peace!

Did you guys got a chance to play Fable 2? how was it? I am really hype for that game.
Did you guys saw the close door PS3 exclusive everyone is talking about?
Did you guys saw Heavy Rain?
Not only did we get the chance to Play Fable 2, Hiphopgamer got to interview Peter Molyneux. I think Fable 2 is going to be amazing, stay tuned for the interview.
Thanks Tor,Yall are doing an exellent job,In which I never had any doubt but yall are doing ALOT better than I originally thought,Evan though I watched the show live,You guys brought news that i havn’t seen anywhere else and mind you these last few day I have been scrounging the Internetz”Copyright:George W.Bush (R*)”from top to bottom,I really love the interviews Hiphop has done,And I must say After those interviews I seem to have alot more respect towrard MS(Note:Not fanboy,But I am Pro sony)and with that,I will most likely be picking me up a 360 as soon as the 60gb ones come available..well withing a few weeks depending on if they resolved the hardware problems with the new systems,So ill ask around and see how they are holding up and if all is good ill be getting one to complete owning every system/console/handheld/and PC there is starting with NES,But yea,Thanks for the Info abd also good job on calling out and putting the “Fanboys”in their place,THEY ALL NEED BE SMACKED!!
I aree. Owning BOTH systems does make you a more well-rounded gamer. Sorry the Wii aint even on my radar.
Can’t wait to see these vids, man!
Late ‘08 and rest of 2009 looks good already =)
I have all three systems and I must say the Wii has lost my interest with the exception of Mario Kart and the occasional Wii Sports bowling match.
My PS3 Library will be growing here with the purchase of KillZone 2 and Resistance 2. LittleBigPlanet looks like lots of fun, but I cannot see it holding interest.
After watching the improvments being made in Live and xbox dashboard there are many reasons to be excited about owning an Xbox 360. I feel sorry for you fanboys that cant get over your disability.
We had a meeting with the developers of Fallout 2 and I must say that game looks incredible. Keep and eye out for that one.
@Candid Anthony
then can you guys post the video up already? I want to see more of Fable 2. I could care less about Peter because he tend to over promise, and then don’t deliver. He did that with Fable, and I was very disappointed with the things he mention wasn’t in the game, or didn’t work well enough.
I played Fable 2 for about 20min. There’s a ton of shit you can do in the game like play with the dog, head to the bar with your friends and get drunk and many other cool things. Gameplaywise it reminded me of Never Winter Nights. The spell casting system is one of the best I’ve seen. I never played Fable 1 but I’m considering downloading it and giving it a run.
Also, Resistance 2 is so good that I’m buying Resistance 1 afterall. Project Origin has me picking up a copy of FEAR.
The video game industry is destroying the movie industry and we saw MANY reasons why. I’ve been up for 36+ hours. I’m uploading some videos when I get back to BB headquarters. There’s tons of B-roll footage that was made available to us that will be put up on the site this week.
Man Fable two will be kick ass. That will be the only game I am getting for my xbox 360 this year. I am passing on gears of war 2. Fable will keep me busy until Resistance 2 comes out.
Awesome! Keep those interviews coming man…and did you guys get to play SOCOM Confrontation?
Yeah, we got to check out Confrontation, but because no one was “online” we only really got to see the graphics and environments.
haha, torrence i’m glad to hear you’re giving resistance another shot. Perhaps i should give gears another chance as well. I will admit the sequel is starting to appeal to me a bit more.
@Torrence
You should get Fable: The Lost Chapters for the PC. don’t get the xbox version. Get the PC version because most of the problems with the Xbox version was fix with the PC version. Plus the PC version got more contents.
