Seems like you have the latter, as you mentioned you have the English manual, and the Japanese version does not come with an English manual. However the Japanese version has online play, which is not region blocked, hence making it the more popular version. For those that have interest in this game and have no wishes of playing online, the Asian version is the better value. However if you want to test your skills across the globe, the Japanese version is the way to go. Most import shops have listed as to which version they sell, and most sell both and have them clearly marked. That's my 2 cents for the day. To the author of the article:
