   Wow. This guy might not only be Fanboy of the week but fanboy of the year! I think you should keep track of each Fanboy of the week and then we can decide who wins fanboy of the year.

   This guy is the classic example of fanboyism, he most likely makes up lies to try and make his idiotic statements seem intelligent. Wow seriously Torrence I am impressed! I thought DarkPower was the biggest fanboy of all time and tool, but this dude is pulling in close.

   To say that MICROSOFT is not a threat is just unbelievable, you would think with a Degree at Duke you would know just how much money Microsoft has, and how they don’t like to lose. This isn’t Sega MS has billions, win or lose this generation there will be another Xbox, and another after that. When will you fanboys learn that without competition to push the industry their would be no rapid progress. Look how EA has fucked up the sports gaming industry. Yet you stay satisfied buying that new Madden copy each year with nothing but updated rosters and a few small tweaks.

   Sorry Eagle21, I know the truth hurts but you are fanboy of the week. You are one of many that contribute to the plague of the gaming world, the scourge that is fanboyism.

   So I suggest you embrace your new found fame and let everyone know that you are indeed FBOTW. People have been called worse, and hey its only a game right?

   Just like has already been said if it wasn’t for each console bringing something to the plate the other would not improve. If it wasn’t for Microsoft coming into the game last gen online would most likely only be on pc because both Nintendo and sony have stated in the past that they had no intentions on doing online gaming, then Microsoft enters the picture and online is a success now you have sony and Nintendo eating their words and trying to catch up with online.

   This generation nintendo grabbed a new market and ran with it, a market that was not catered to but not totally non existant with the other two consoles. Now you see both sony and microsoft trying to catch up in that market.

   Previoulsly discussed on the bit bag was how microsoft is a software company first and a hardware company second, and sony is a hardware company first and a software company second. Thus the reason why sony is still catching up to the features and online capabilites of microsoft and microsoft still working on the hardware aspect.

   If you are not fortunate enough to get all three consoles then by all means pick which one is right and is going to give you what you want. But you dont have to justify your choice by trying to belittle the other systems just because you only prefer one or cant afford all three.

   This is my experience if you are happy with something you are going to be happy with it without having to bad mouth the next man for his choice in hardware. Like lets say i got a bmw and i love it do i care that the next man has a Phantom, or a ferrari no i just enjoy my car and get the most out of it.
   Thats my take on fanboys which i really think deep down inside they arent happy with there purchase and try to hide it by saying why there purchase is better than the other. Because there is no reason to rep any side because you arent getting paid you are paying them so take your purchase be happy with it (because if you are really happy with it you are not worried about the next man and his purchase).

   But Torrence didn’t call you guys names and diss you but i will because fanboys make me sick and they are a plague to the industry and don’t bring any thing positive to the table.
   They just make gamers look like side taking fools something like gang banging in the 90s. You get on forums and start cursing and calling people stupid for there choice in video games, or systems and then try to sound like you are intelligent. I remember when it wasn’t cool to be a gamer it was something you were proud to call yourself because it was what you loved to do. It was a unity among people with the common goal to enjoy games in any shape or form. Now you got guys that just tear up that unity by taking sides and trolling, lying and just being plain idiots with close minded comments. Gaming as a Mainstream entertainment is good for the industry but i wish it was back like it used to be when only people who loved it for what it was took interest in it. Not now where you have an infestation of fanboys who have nothing better to do than to plague a community that is finally taking its place in entertainment.

   Before I go on, let me just get this out. I don’t hate the Xbox360 or it’s games, why else would I have one myself? But, I do hate MICROSOFT. I’m anti-microsoft. I can be called an anti-microsoft fanboy for all I care, because it would be true. I hate their business practices, their strategies, and their windows vista.

   Now for eagle21, It’s clear he’s a Sony Fanboy. He loves everything Sony. The Hardware, the games, etc. That seems to be OK because it’s his opinion on those Sony products. But I guess what makes him the fanboy is not acknowledging the other things that the 360 has.

   As for torrence “I’m going to have to smash you real quick dog”. One thing struck me about your post. You say GT5P’s cars are “slightly” better. And “probably” has a higher polygon count. If I could recall, Forza 2’s polygons were somewhere in the range of 20-30,000. GT5P’s are 200,000+ per car. That’s not “slightly.”

   It’s far from looking like squares like eagle21 exaggerates. But come on bro, car models “slightly” better on GT5P?

   It doesn’t slightly” look better, it looks 3 times better. And keeping in mind that GT5P runs in native 1280×1080 resolution while Forza is 1280×720 resolution.

   As for the feature set, that cant be argued. GT5P is obviously very limited. Heck I’m already done with GT5P, and I’m still only 70% into Forza 2. The features in Forza 2 is phenomenal. Hopefully Polyphony takes notice and tries to implement the same amount of features if not more in the full version GT5.

   But come on, “Lighting and models are slightly better. Probably a higher polygon count.”

   It looks to me that not only the Fanboys of the week are guilty of fanboy comments.

   This is my post about my feelings about Microsoft and its Live.

   The only thing Xbox live could ever have over the ps3 is the in game custom soundtrack. Microsoft put a patent on the soundtrack design so Sony cant even implement it. Its not that the ps3 cant do it, its that Microsoft could sue Sony if they even tried. I think its bullcrap cause now Devs have to put even more work into games just for the feature, but they wont cause Microsoft has more consumers to provide for, so whats the point of them doing more work for nothing?

   I for one like the psn interface more than xbox live. The psn is alot more streamlined, proficient and easily accesible. The biggest reason why I dont care for xbox live is cause it cost money. I dont mind paying for a service, but one example of why I hate Live is a story about me paying for 6 years of live by accident.

   One day I was playing my ps3, and my daughter, who is 1 1/2 yrs old was getting upset cause she wanted to hold my ps3 controller. I was in the middle of a game, so I gave her my Xbox controller to play with. She was pressing buttons and giggling and laughing, so I didnt think anything of it, but she went into my account and purchased 6 years of live by accident. I didnt know about it till I check my email one day, and I got 6 emails from Microsoft talking about my purchase of Live. I called Microsoft about the problem and they didnt wanna refund my money. I had to go off and talk to 3 supervisors before they made me keep one year of live, which I didnt even have enough money in my bank account for.

   Microsoft makes so much money off of xbox live’s service that should be considered as a crime. I think Microsoft is a Tyrant in the video game realm, and they dont care about the consumers, they just want our money. I think that Sony is actually a hero in this business. They actually spent 3 billion of their own dollars to make the ps3 more accesible to people who dont have enough money to buy one. Do you see microsoft doing that? No, they spend almost 2 billion to fix the rushed out 360’s and redistribute used 360’s to customers that arent worth the full price they sell it for.

   Why do you 360 fanboys not see what is actually going on. Its like women who only likes dudes that beat them and use them. I dont know why you guys continuously brag about the 360? I have one and I’m ashamed at myself for purchasing one after I already had a ps3. Im also pissed off that they made a price cut a month after I purchased one. I guess thats a slap in the face that I deserve.

   Dont get me wrong, the 360 is a good machine, but you guys need to look at the bigger picture. Who actually deserves you? The company that does anything they can to make their consumers happy, or the tyrant company who lies and rips you off in every way they can? You be the judge, its your money, your life,, I just think that maybe if we all came together that us consumers, as a whole, can defeat this tyranny by not taking less then we are paying for.

   Yes, I’m not a fan of fighting games and I’m not a fan of Soul Calibur, but I am a God of War fan and if a fighting game did have Kratos in the game, I would buy it because it would be interesting to see how it would be to play Kratos in a fighting game.

   I do own a few fighting games that I bought YEARS ago, but I’ve never been a fan of fighting games, but if a fighting game featured one of my most favorite video game characters, yes, I would buy the game just to see what it was like to play as them in that game.

   I wouldn’t buy ANY game just if Kratos was in the game, I’m not that stupid. I wouldn’t buy Madden 09 if Kratos was an unlockable character in the game because I’m not a fan of sports games at all and I have NEVER bought a sports game in my life. I mean, Kratos is in an action game, so I could see myself buying a game that featured Kratos in a fighting game because an action game and fighting game have several similarities in terms of gameplay.

   God of War has it’s own fighting system and if Kratos was in Soul Calibur 4, he would have his own fighting system as well, so to me it would have been really interesting to see how his fighting style would be like in Soul Calibur 4 or to see if he used some of the same moves that were in God of War 1 & 2, or if there were some new moves.

   And I know that I’m not the only God of War fan that would buy Soul Calibur 4 just if Kratos was in the game, because once the intial rumor of Kratos being in Soul Calibur 4 first was posted on N4G, it instantly became a hot article.

   And Torrence, you said that you were a fan of Star Wars in one of the past Warzone podcasts, now let me ask you this: If you weren’t a fan of fighting games and you loved Star Wars, wouldn’t having Yoda or Darth Vader in the game be cool at all to you? Of course we already know that Darth Vader and Yoda will be in Soul Calibur 4, but that’s the way that I feel about Kratos and Soul Calibur 4.

   I love Kratos as a video game character, but I don’t love him so much that I would buy ANY game just if Kratos was in the game and I explained it earlier in my response. Kratos in a fighting game would have been awesome and there is no denying that.

   Sony and Microsoft make a computer, and they hire devs to write code to run on those computers, that’s all.    Ive been getting that same feeling I had as a Dreamcast owner when it was getting all that bad pub when it started to die, only Microsoft is not Sega. Do sony fanboys expect Microsoft just to give up even if they dont win this gen? Get real.

   MS will learn from their mistakes, they are still babies in the console field.

   A good example I think is when MS released MSN against AOL when AOL was in its prime. People laughed, nobody bought MSN and MS lost millions for years, Millions. They just kept throwing money at it until they broke through, yea it took 5 years but look at AOL now.

   I dont think Sony or Microsoft are going anywhere, but i expect the race to get much tighter over the next few years.

    As far as GT5P and Forza 2 go, I think that Gran Turismo is the superior racing franchise hands down compared to Forza. Gran Turismo 5 Prologue isn’t even a the full game, so you really can’t compare some aspects of the game to Forza 2, but when it comes to things like graphics, car physics, presentation, and such, you can make comparisions and GT5P holds the advantage in those areas. There aren’t that many people that actually hated GT and Torrence must be like one of the few people that didn’t like the series or something because when you look at the sales of each Gran Turismo game, people love the franchise.

    I think that some of Eagle21’s comments in the Open Zone make him some what of a fanboy and even though he said that those comments were just for fun, he should have posted them at all if he didn’t really mean it. I’m very heavily baised towards the Playstation 3, but I would never go in the Open Zone and just type a whole bunch of lies about the 360.

    I respect Eagle21’s preference to the Playstation 3 because that’s his own personal decision, but some of the comments he made weren’t really logically correct and some of those comments just screamed fanboy.

    I own both Forza 2 and GT5P. I know the polygon counts are higher on GT5P, but the Forza 2 cars still look great. It’s not the high polygon count that makes the difference betweent the two games looks, it’s that lighting and reflection system they have going. I’ve looked at both games very hard and played both for several hours. GT5P’s lighting system blows Forza’s away. The car models don’t. They are better, but don’t blow Forza’s away. On that note I’d like to say that I’m more interested in gameplay mechanics then graphics. Always have been. Polyphony needs damage modeling and physical damage added to the game. You simply cannot tell me that Forza 2 cars do not look awesome. Lastly, if you think you can’t compare Forza 2 to GT5P because GT5P is not a complete game, is it safe to say that Forza 2 is the better game? Or should we say “Forza 2 is the best next gen racing sim” because there is no full GT5 game yet? I don’t know, you tell me.

    As far as me taking the 360 side on the podcast, I do that because I have to. HHG ALWAYS takes the PS3 side. So in order for us to have balance, I have to take the 360 side. I would do the opposite if HHG was pro 360 I’d have to be pro PS3 to balance that out. Warzone is about console wars and we thought of the show during a debate we had about the consoles. I wish I had that conversation taped because it was awesome. Anyways, after the conversation I said, “let’s make it a podcast.” The rest is history.

    Sony DID only sell 2million in their home country. That’s not that good compared to Nintendo is it? They have a lot of work to do. Just so you know, the Gamecube sold 4 million in Japan in it’s lifetime.

    Final Fantasy IS a milked franchise. That’s a fact. Dumb gamers will buy any RPG with an FF on it. Think I’m wrong? How many copies do you think Lost Odyssey would have sold if it was multiplatform and had the title FFXIII? I expect answers to all my questions.

    Aclayps3, GT is a franchise that has been around for years and has sold millions. Forza is on it’s second game and is still better than any GT game ever made. This of course is my opinion. But if you look at the facts, Forza 2 has features that have never been in a GT game before. Even Polyphony gave the nod to Forza 2. You simply cannot deny the hotness of this title. Have you played it?

    I’ve always hated the GT games because the driving mechanics sucked balls. They weren’t realistic at all yet it claimed to be a sim. I am a racing fanatic and GT dissappointed me on several occassions. Sega GT was even better because you could build your own car from scratch. Let’s take the DB9 from GT2. 360 donuts off the line without even trying. It was rediculous. Plus, hitting a wall at 100mph and having not one thing happen to the car sucked balls. Rallysport Challenge 2 became my saviour because it had realistic damage modeling, realistic physical damage and realistic driving physics. In fact, no game compares to the driving mechanics of Rallysport Challenge 2. I hope they make a next gen version.

    As far as Playstation fans go in general, they like to argue whats best based on graphics alone. I really don’t care which game has better graphics. My priorities are gameplay, sound and graphics 3rd. I hate when people argue using graphics as a crutch. If you are a graphics whore then don’t debate with me because it’s a lose lose situation for both of us.

    And lastly just so you know that I’m in no way a fanboy, Heavenly Sword is the best 3D action game on the PS3. I will take that to the grave or until something better comes out. I’m also tired of people leaving out games like Test Drive Unlimited, Ace Combat 6, Tenchu Z and Chromehounds in their list of 360 exclusives. All these gams are QUALITY. AC6 is the Gran Turismo of the skyies in terms of graphics and the Forza 2 of the skies in terms of gameplay. MLB08 is THE BEST BASEBALL GAME EVER MADE and it’s on the PS3 and I love it. There are great games on both systems and I get to play them because I don’t care what’s under the black or white box, I just want to play the games.

    When the Xbox 360 was first released Microsoft was not making a profit on each system, they too were losing money. Yes I agree Sony is losing money on every console they sell.

    That is business, these companies take a loss on the hardware in hopes to sell enough games to get back the difference and then even maybe make money on each console. They are not doing this out of the Goodness of their hearts, its business.

    When Sony made Beta VCR’s back in the 80’s they werent selling the machines to make a profit, they were selling them so that people would buy lots and lots of Blank Beta tapes and movies! So that they could make money on the media. Same applies to the Video game world.

    Nothing I said should have warranted the response you posted on this site. It is offensive, disgusting, and in my opinion shows that you cant be trusted to be on another podcast on this site if your going to speak that way.

    I may disagree with you on this subject, but at no time would I ever wish you harm or come after you or your family with such vulgarity.

    If being called full of shit, or a fanboy is the equivalent to you of being called a “faget” or providing enough anger that you hope someone dead then I apologize.

    But seriously, I thought you were a pretty cool guy after that podcast you joined us on. And although we were supposed to have it out on the show I think we ended up agreeing on many different subjects.

    One of my jobs on this site is to be objective and smash on fanboy remarks. Maybe I need to tone down my language and criticism directed at people at times, I’m still new to this and picking up on things every day. If my comments bring people to the site to agree or disagree with me then I have done my job.

    I don’t agree with a lot of Microsoft’s tactics, but in the end I don’t get emotionally attached to one console I just fucking like to play games and have a good time.

    If you go back Sony and Nintendo haven’t been perfect angels. Torrence is right Sega was pushed out of the market by Sony and Nintendo. Nintendo basically killed the Genesis and Master System with EA like tactics. PS1 had heat and laser issues, a design flaw that wasn’t discovered until the hardware was pushed by better games down the road AFTER warranty’s expired! PS2 had issues too. Nintendo 64 had issues with their analog controllers early on. The original xbox had power supply issues too. And we all know about the 360’s problems.

    Cars fucking pollute but I still drive um, ranchers abuse cattle but you still buy hamburgers and eat them. Get my drift? Its business nothing personal.

    As far as being a fanboy myself?

    If you go back and read my latest conversations you will see that I do think that Sony will win this gen. Find me an MS fanboy that has said that.

    If you said the same comment about Microsoft discounting Xbox’s for the good of the consumer I would have said the same shit.

    Anyways the final fantasy topic that Torrence brought up is half true in some aspects. Its true that final fantasy is a milked franchise, but don’t you think that its cause the game has constantly delivered every time round? That is why people would go out and won’t think twice before purchasing a copy for 60$? (I’m from UK) whereas it would be risky to go and get something they never heard of before.

    I got one more thing to say that I haven’t heard being addressed. Is it me or is most of the early ps3 titles really glitchy or have some sort of framerate issue? Heavenly sword and Lair are a couple. Heavenly sword is great but just doesn’t run so smooth.

    Starting with the things I agree. GT5P and Forza 2 are comparable in whatever they can be compared to. Graphics and gameplay. So yes, if GT5P isn’t going to be compared to Forza 2. Then Forza 2 will be the best next-gen racing simulator. I agree, I’ve played it. Been playing it. Still playing it.

    That being said, hopefully Kazunori-san and Polyphony takes note of everything people want from Forza 2, and implement similar (or even the same) features.

    To me though, GT5P is just a small taste of what’s to come. As we know with the previous GTs, there’s plenty more for them to do.

    As for the car models, I never really implied that Forza 2 cars look like crap or anything (that’s eagle21). I really like it and they really look good. My point was just that GT5’s car models weren’t slightly better, they were a lot better in terms of the sheer numbers of detail and overall accuracy to their real life counterparts.

    And as for gameplay, that’s the whole point we all really play games for. But if someone who’s going to be in this industry, everything has to be accounted for. Game play, story, graphics and sound.

    This is something that sets me apart from my friends. Some only care about Game play. Some only care about graphics. Some only care about story. Most don’t even care about sound. But when I play games, I like to look at the overall package.

    It’s just the way I am, and I cant help it. Games like Gears of War which has great visuals to compliment the brutal sound and to top it off with fun game play. It’s those kinds of games that really do it for me.

    Now for the subject of Final Fantasy. I agree and disagree. I agree that the name “Final Fantasy” is milked more than a cow in a farm. But one thing Final Fantasy brings to the table every generation, is graphics.

    I know, it’s not all about graphics. But the point is that Final Fantasy seems to be the benchmark for graphics on whatever console they put it out on. Final Fantasy games will always show the true power of the hardware or close to it.

    They did it with FFIII (FFVI) on SNES. They did it with FF7 on PS1. They did it with FFX on PS2. And I’m pretty sure they’re going to do it again with FFXIII on PS3.

    And one thing also, as a game it’s always a different story for each set. They’re basically different games every time around.

    As for labeling “Lost Odyssey” Final Fantasy and people will buy it, I wouldn’t buy it. Simply for the reason I stated above. LO didn’t exactly push the 360’s hardware to the brink. It had low resolution textures, poor frame rates in cut scenes, and some clunky in-game animations.

    It’s still a solid RPG, but it would not meet the same expectation as a Final Fantasy title.

    And for the last subject (I’m going on too long now) is the 2 million in Japan thing for the PS3. Yes they’re only doing 2 million. But like you said, Japan are only interested in two RPGs. Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest (I think?). If the PS3 still doesn’t manage to hold sales after FFXIII. Then it would be the official stamp of Nintendo Ownage on Sony in Japan.

    Phew. Well I hope I prove one thing to you Torrence, I’m not a fanboy. I just hate microsoft.

As you have said in your post here, you are now a fan of the site because of the award. I’d say that’s a good thing. People shouldn’t get too uptight if they win the award.     Oh, I have hate for all 3 game companies. Microsoft for making IE such a shitty product, Sony for their DVCAM standards and Nintendo for fucking Atari(Tengen) over and getting the REAL Tetris pulled off of shelves and also for not allowing any other companies to release a Batman game for an entire year.

    Lets say you get a 360 and dont have internet, out of the box you are already equiped with custom sound tracks and achievements without even subscribing to live. Now lets say you go with the free version of live the only thing that you lack is the ability to playgames online and having to wait a week to download new releases, that is it you still have all the messaging capabilities including ingame messaging voice and text friends list,and comparing achievements.

    Think of xbox live like an MMO you are paying for the servers and being able to play your games online. Every thing else is free and its getting real old and tired how every one trys to make misconceptions like you are paying for the other features. 5 bucks amonth 50 a year is not alot of money and if you think it is you problely need to play on oldschool consoles.

    If any one wants to argue about the price of any thing we should be asking ourselves why are we realy shelling out 60 bucks per game when we are only getting 4 to 5 hours gameplay out of most of this generations games?

    You take games like mario galaxy, Zelda, Metroid,and God of war and no these games dont look as good as this generations games but they sure do give you alot more content for your money. Dont get me wrong games like Metal Gear Solid 4 are great but i think i would rather have more game play then cutscene when i play games, in that game you watched more than you played if thats the direction that gaming is moving in to where all we think about are pretty graphics then i feel sorry for the gaming industry and i think we lost what its all about the game play.
