Yo, congrats saxyboy15 on winning the Metal Gear contest. Though I have to say that I think my answers were better, and more realistically possible, but good job anyways. Hahaha.
Torrence, I don’t think you should even be playing MGS4 because if you haven’t played the previous MGS games, you can’t appreciate everything that Kojima has to offer in this game.
Just like you said you are a Star Wars fan… but I’m not and I personally think that there’s WAY too much exposition in the Star Wars movies and I’ve watched a few of them and to me sometimes the Star Wars movies can get boring, but there are nice action sequences. I’m a MGS fan, and I have no problem with the long cutscenes and such in MGS4 because I’ve played the previous games and I know the story and characters.
Personally I don’t think that ANYONE should play MGS4 UNLESS they have played the previous games, period. Kojima said himself that MGS4 is for the fans and that’s who he made it for. And I think that the Star Wars movies are only for the Fans of the series as well because there’s a LOT of dialogue in Star Wars movies and only Fans of the series can really appreciate each movie.
Big-T, having just recently become a reader through .RSS, I need to say that you are making the people you’re debating with look terrible. They sound like they don’t know what they’re talking about (although they probably do know what they’re talking about).

Thanks u guys for giving everyone an opportunity to voice an opinion on what could make MGS4 better. Because those were some ideas I’ve had since started playing the game and as you can tell Im a huge Kojima fan. Warzone is the greatest podcast on the net right now for gaming, with both Torrence and Hiphopgamer. On the EA issue, I think these past couple of years with the Madden franchise have been slacking a little. I think this is because of the fact they haven’t really had any competition on the market with an official NFL licensed game(since they own it). But I think this year will be different for the franchise, because all of the videos have shown a major improvement on every level. I agree with Torrence, All-Pro was a good game. It made me think back to the NFL 2K games.
Now the Resistance and Gears situation, I agree with Hiphopgamer all the way. Both games are great, but I favor Resistance more(going with reasons hiphopgamer mentioned). Torrence, you’re the man but I just can’t agree with your opinion. I mean yeah the Resistance demo sucked, but the game IMO made up for that. You can’t compare what you experienced in Resistance’s demo to a full game of Gears, its just not right. But what I do agree with you on is the fact you didn’t go out purchase the game, because the demo sucked. Hell, I wouldn’t pick up a game if the demo sucked either. I gave Resistance a try after playing the full game at friends house, and the game is phenomenal. Gears is also phenomenal, but IMO the same combat just got a little repetitive after a while. The first time I let loose on somebody with a chainsaw, it was f**kin awesome!!! But after doing it for awhile it kinda became a bore. The sequels to these 2 games are going to fantastic, because both games are improving on alot of things. Great show Torrence and Hiphopgamer, I will be looking out for the next one, PEACE!
Somehow I have a feeling if roles were reversed and Gears was on PS3 and Resistance 360 your preference of which game is better would change.
Honestly “letting loose on someone with a chainsaw” was not that big of a deal to me at all, and for some reason seems to always be the point of conversation amongst PS3 fanboys. (Do you guys all get together and synchronize your plan of attack? N4G maybe? lol) I have a strange feeling that is because its a feature not included in resistance and that they all can grasp onto it easily since they most likely never played or finished Gears.
Im going to buy Resistance and give it another go, but I have a feeling its not going to impress me as much as it did HipHop or you Saxyboy. I am not a big great graphics or bust kinda guy, but to tell me resistance looks as good or better than Gears? Sounds like a tall order, but looking through the eyes of a fanboy i would imagine that even Armored Core 4 looks brilliant.
To Candid Anthony, where do you get off on calling me a fanboy. I told you that Im looking forward to both games, and I like them both. Its just that I favor Resistance more, am I wrong for having an opinion to say that I like Resistance a lil more than Gears? You are making it out like I said Gears sucked, I wasn’t saying anything to that nature. I love Gears, it was the first game I picked up by the 360 and I enjoyed the hell out of it! To me, yeah it had its flaws and so did Resistance. The things I didnt like about Resistance was the boring narrative and some of the enemys that appeared to be uber strong, lol. Im not a graphics whore at all, I just enjoy games like you. I look forward to purchasing both of these titles in the fall. You know, I could sit here and label you as a fanboy for favoring Gears over Resistance, but Im not gonna do that because you’re a gamer and Im gamer and in the end we all win. So who’s the fanboy me or you? or are we gamers?
terrence i heard the reason why the game dont turn your games to 120hz is because thatz not what the game is run to be. the highest the games are made now are 60hz. buye the way great podcast as usual

I’m a fan of games, not consoles. Now if a console provides me a feature in a game that it does not in the other I might favor that console for that game.

Cmon ladies calm down. There is nothing wrong with liking one game more than the other. Who cares what other people say about a game you like? Its only one person’s fucking opinion and I’m sure that he’s got his own legitimate reasons for thinking that way.
Also, I would like to say I could give 2 shits about what anyone says about people caring too much about graphics in a game. Im a proud graphics whore, and just cause people like Tor think Im fucking dumb ass, and should go bitch smack myself for being like this, doesn’t mean that Im wrong, Fuck what all yall think. Its my life, my money, and I do what i want with it.
On more thing. As an owner of all next gen systems. I could honestly say I could give 2 fucks about R2 or Gears 2. I’ve been getting really sick of playing shooters all the time, an Im looking more foward to games like Prince of Persia,Afro Samuari, Fable 2, Shaun Whites Snowboarding, Midnight Club: LA, Agronauts, Tomb Raider, Final Fanstasy and fuckin Red Faction. I could name like 10 other games coming out this year that are gonna be better than R2 and Gears,, Both of them games are way overhyped.

WOAH when did I ever say or even imply that you were a dumb ass?
A lot of people think GT5P is better than Forza 2 just based on the graphics. Well, it’s ok if it’s nice to look at but we get games to PLAY them. There’s no way in hell if you compare a game like GT5P to Forza 2 that it should get higher accolades. Forza 2 has too many things that are better and a ton of more features. People still say it’s better because…it looks better.
It’s a sad world we live in. I own both games BTW.

Armored Core is dope. It takes a true fan to know how to play it though. I’m just getting the hang of it myself in VS. mode. It takes a lot of skill. On top of that, the graphics are gorgeous.

Hey Torrence, what’s your take on Soulcalibur IV? Since you’re a star wars fan. I think its gonna be dope!
To correct you guys on the Metal Gear Solid 4 install it overwrites the previous install so that you don’t have this huge install on your PS3. That is why Kojima did it. The downside to this is that you have to go through the install on multiple playthroughs except for the first one. The first install is always there but each additional install is overwritten. I hope that is clear enough for you. So basically you have the initial install and then the 2nd install on your PS3. The initial install will always be on your system however depending on where you are in the game you could have the Act 2, 3, 4, or 5 install on their as well. I don’t remember if there was one for Act 6 or not. I don’t believe so but could be wrong.

To the person who said that he did not play Resistance but played the demo, its generally referred to by the Playstation community to be one of the worst demos ever because it doesn’t accurately reflect the actual game. I could seriously care less whether or not you like the game but I just wanted to let you know.
Hmm however the demo is a reflection of what the game is like and an idea of what to expect.
Well, if you put a demo live and it doesnt reflect the actual game or give it it’s justice then thats just really fucking stupid. Because lots of people including myself like to try a game before we buy.
If your demo sucks im going to assume the game blows too. Sorry for not blindly buying games just because they have PS3 logo slapped on the front cover
hiphopgamer and torrence have you guys seen the trailer and interview to resistance 2, their is soposed to be 300 foot tall boss battles thats insane and 60 player online.
what exclusives does 360 have coming out for 2009 besides fable 2, gears 2 and halo wars.
I’m sure MS have something hidden in their sleeves, however I honestly think that they can’t compete with Sony’s line up this year. My reason being that Sony have showed quite a few promising titles such as LBP, R2, Socom and some others. Whereas we know that MS biggest title this year is going to be GeOW2.

That’s all exclusive stuff for 360 this year. That’s not everything either. There are some surprises in store for the 360 at E3. I see 2 JRPG’s, 1 Shooter, 2 Action RPG’s and 1 3D action game. That lineup alone can compete with what Sony is offering. R2, LBP, Home and whatever else Sony is showing at E3 is still good in comparison. I’m just tired of people saying GOW2 is ALL that MS has to offer. In fact, that will be a topic on the next show.
Well… ya know, I err never said it was all that MS had to offer, just that its MS biggest game this year.
The only exclusives I’m looking forward to this year are Fable 2 and Final Fantasy 13. Everything else I want will be multi plat. I do hope R2 and Geow2 will blow my mind, but like I said before, I bet that everyone will be playing the new COD instead all winter till Killzone comes out,,, oh yeah,, and lets not forget Socom. Both games are better than R2 and Geow2, but thats just my opinion.
And just so yall know, I got ahold of someone from Treyarch, hes a lead in the QA dept of the ps3 version in the new game. Thats why I was trying to get ahold of you last night Tor, but you didnt reply, oh well,, anyways, I was thinking it would be cool to have someone like that on the show,, if you like the idea, hit me up. I’m glad to see everybody enjoying the warzone yo this shit is crazy and as far as this year go the reason why i feel sony takes is a combination of things man. between games and services and firmware updates sony just have more that people are looking foward to see this is there moment to really shine now i mean think about it. Home, in-game xmb, LBP, infamous, E3 surprises, Play TV if released in NA this year i mean there’s alot to get excited for on there side, on the 360 side it’s mainly games that we already know and a possible wii style controller and also the rumored killer instinct that should be coming
I agree with Torrence.. I’m not a fan of mgs4.. I’m one in like a million people that didn’t buy a ps3 for mgs4 i actually bought my system for wrestling games because as hiphopgamer said before on the hiphopgamer show when u are so use to playing a game on one console you’d most likely go and buy the next console ( for me ps2 and then bought ps3) and buy the continued series on that console..
great show as usual. IMO another reason why kojima chose to do temp installs instead of one large install is because of hard drive space. The required install is 4.6GB (on the back of the game case). Now if you added all the data from all the acts it would be probably near 10GB if not more. I think its a bit of damage control because a lot of people would have made a lot of noise. Even though the game is great & it wouldn’t of mattered to me. I think GeoW2 will have the bigger launch because as we’ve seen with Halo3 MS advertise like hell. But at the same time, R2 with nowwhere near as much advertising will sell just a well. mark my words.
I’ve still got twenty minutes left to listen to on the show, but one thing I have to say is . . . I forget what I was going to say. Crap. I listen to it in the car and then I have this stuff I want to say and then I get to a computer and I forget. Hmm . . . I think I wanted to say something like . . . umm . . . crap. I forget. Why do people exaggerate in such a manner that it makes themselves sound stupid? When are people going to remove those small perspective lenses and just have fun playing games together instead of trying to one-up one another?
I have thought for years that It is sad that there are people that will put down a game because of the console it is on. I wrote that piece about fanboyism and I think it still holds true.
I love playing games, and only since the dawn of the internet and forums have I really been introduced to this huge heated world of console wars.
Of course back in grade school there was the old school talk of nes being better than sega master system but none to the vulgar heated levels of the internet.
