i have a bit of an off topic question, however. i want to talk about two generations ago. nintendo 64 vs ps1 was basically what was going on. in my opinion, Ocarina of Time was a game that could not be matched that generation. i know you would expect that coming from me, but i just wanted to get your view on it. back in that day, you couldnt say nintendo 64 wasnt next gen, so i assume you had one.. along with a dreamcast and, of course, a playstation one. i want to know what you think was the game of the generation back then and how Ocarina of Time ranks with what was going on at the time.

I just wanted to comment on something that you mentioned in your video and it was about Multiplatform games not being released together.
The last I heard, Phil Harrison said that the PS3 version of Alone in the Dark had some technical issues or whatever that needed to be ironed out before the game could be released. Personally I think that Phil Harrison just isn’t releasing Alone in the Dark on the PS3 in June along with the other versions because of Metal Gear Solid 4. As we all know, Phil used to work for Sony, so he already knows the impact that MGS4 will have on the PS3 for the entire month of June.
But I really think that developers coming out with Multiplatform games should release both versions at the same time though even if it means that they might have to push back the 360 version of a game because the PS3 version will take a month or two longer or whatever.
I was suprised to hear that Star Ocean 4 was going to be on the 360 and just recently the developers said that they don’t plan on making it for the PS3, but I think that they will eventually. But, even if the PS3 doesn’t get Star Ocean 4, the PS3 still has Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy versus XIII, and FFXIII is really the only MAJOR JRPG that matters a LOT.
The PS3 is also getting White Knight Chronicles and it’s being developed by the same studio that brought the Dark Cloud RPG series on the PS2, so the PS3 still has some very solid JRPG’s for 2009.
To AngryPoolMan the game of the generation to me with playstation 1 and n64 overall i felt was final fantasy 7 i think that’s the game that really put ps1 on the map and for n64 i would say golden eye for dreamcast believe it or not i would say shenmue i think that title showed consumers what dreamcast can do as far as power and innovation, and for the ps2 i have to say God Of War

youre lucky ps1 used cds hiphopgamer. if the n64 used cds, final fantasy VII would have stayed with Nintendo and, according to you, playstation would have never had a chance.
Yo hiphop. I think you must have forgotten about the 2k series starting on the Dreamcast. NBA and NFL 2k series on the dreamcast was raw and looked damn near as good as anything on the ps2. Gameplay wise, both series of games were smooth like a baby’s booty. I think that and the graphics on the Dreamcast were even better than anything on the ps1.
Dont get me wrong, I loved FF7. I loved Xenogears for that matter, but I do feel that the dreamcast was the better of the machines, and I think that pretty much FF7 was the one responsible for the Dreamcast’s demise. Which isnt fair at all considering all of the other great games the dreamcast had. Soul Reaver, Armada, and Skies of Arcadia are still some of my favorites.

hiphopgamer, what games have sony made. I think they made motorstorm and shadow of the colosses but im not sure what else they made.
phil3452 – this gen anyway, they made uncharted, folklore, heavenly sword, warhawk, resistance, lair, and ratchet and clank.
sony does make a lot of games as opposed to microsoft.

Hey, quit being so angry,, pool man. Just joking. I understand that something like that could be misleading. The reason for the playstation logo is because Insomniac is dedicated to only making games for the playstation. They have their reasons, Im sure Sony is giving them some under the table money for that of course. I know I would do anything I had to do to keep insomniac exclusively on the ps3, they are one of the best dev’s in the biz.
man, i wish nintendo had more third parties dedicated to making games on their systems.. they should have done more to keep rare. some of the decisions they make are idiotic.

Ya, I’m totally with you on that man. But let me tell you what. Nintendo is not what it used to be. It seems that Publishers are putting out crap games to make that quick dollar. Its like they are trying to take advantage of nintendo’s big market. It’s a good strategy though, but we should only blame ourselves for this.
The more people buy the wii,, the more crap is gonna be put out for the system,, and when I say crap I mean sh*t. The only good games on the system are the first party games. And honestly,, the first party games are a little overrated. I use my Wii mainly for the downloadable games like Mario, zelda 64 and regular NES games.
nes and snes were incredible systems. my favorites of all time. n64 lost a lot of its third parties thanks to the fact that they stil wanted to use cartridges, so its not nearly as good as it could have been. gc and wii are kind of… different. i love my wii, my favorite system this gen, but thats because im such a sucker for zelda and metroid.
and to what youre saying about the more people that buy wiis, the more developers are going to try to be out to make a quick dollar.. i dont think thats quite true. i think we are beginning to see a bit of a change now that people ARE buying wiis. if more people have the system, more people are going to want to buy quality games for it. i can see what youre saying though. i just cant wait for nintendo’s first hd console. i think thats when we are going to see nintendo truley taking over the industry just like it did back when the snes was popular. thats just my own prediction though. we are still going to have to see if the ps3 can catch up to the wii. i think that is really what is going to dictate the future for these companies. the psp doesnt stand a chance against the ds, and the beginning sales for both back in 2004 and 2005 are similar to that of the wii and the ps3. we are gonna have to wait at least another year to truley be able to tell. i think hip hop gamer is in the wrong about one thing: that its all about ps360 and not the wii. if you ask me, the future is all about the pswii. ps has the technology, and the wii has the new way to play.
I guess you haven’t heard, but Sony is coming up with some things that just might make the Nintedo a little nervous. Playstation is coming out with 2 new controllers,, one that transforms, and the other thats just like the wiimote w/o the sesnor bar. They are also coming out with something like the wii board. Even the 360 is coming out with a xbox/ wimote. I think the wii is gonna be a dinosaur sooner than you think.
Don’t get me wrong, I love my Wii. I was just playing mario 64 with my daughter, and she’s actually still playing it. But my problem with it is that it really isnt worth what I paid. The value of the Wii and its software is totally overrated. The least they could have done with the Wii was add a dvd player. I paid 300 bucks for the freakin thing ya know. For a hundred bucks more, I could have gotten a ps3 that has a top of the line blueray player, an hdd, free web browser, and access to all of the top notch next gen games available. I could go on and on about the better value of the ps3, but you get the point I’m sure.
I think that Nintendo could have made a better machine. The graphics arent much better than the gamecube, and the online lag on the freakin thing is worse that my old dial up connection. Them things listed above is the reason why I get a little upset about how well its doing, making everyone that is actually contributing something to the gaming industry look bad sales wise.
It wouldn’t be so bad if yall got a ps3 or 360 first , than a Wii. It seems like most people are content with having just a Wii though. People really can’t see that they are actually screwing up the industry by making the last gen market huge and not contributing to the next gen market. Just imagine how much better next gen could be if there wasn’t a Wii around. Alot of companies would try to make the best games cause only the best games do good on next gen machines. That’s my opinion.
one thing you never mentioned in your post were games. this is the primary reason nintnendo is always going to stick around. nintnendo is the best software developer in the industry.. they put out quality games. thats why all the core gamers bought a wii. they bought it for zelda, mario, starfox, etc.
i am aware that the playstation3 is coming out with all that cool stuff, but i dont know if it is going to be as big. it depends how much they push it. but dont you understand that the reason ps360 has to do these things is because of pressure put on them by nintendo? nintendo is upping the competition in a new way and forcing the other two companies to change their ways. i think that helps the industry more than upping the graphics to hd ever could.
youre having trouble with your online? are you trying to play smash bros? smash bros has horrible lag online, it really does piss me off. try mario kart. the online is incredible and the lag is non existant.
wii isnt going to be a dinosaur any time soon. it will once the new nintendo system comes out in 2011. once that happens, we will be experiencing nintendo games in 1080p and tighter motion sensing. doesnt that sound cool? i think the wii is just a step in the right direction. they wouldnt be where they are at today if they made the wii hd. im glad they didnt.
Hey, thats your opinion. It seems like your pretty sure about what your saying so I wont argue with you. But I must say that Sony is in its own league, and that Nintendo’s gotta do more than add motion control if they wanna be on that level. But anyways, on with the topic at hand, The things I would change in Metal Gear Solid 4.
I made a little list. Some of you might disagree, but hey this is all just my opinion, and this is America and yall can’t stop me,, haha. Just messin with ya.
1) First off, I would get rid of Konami ID’s. The whole interface of the ID system sucks, I still dont know how to add my friend to my friends list,,,
2) Get rid of the installations in between acts.. Just make one big one at the begining of the game if it is necassary.
3)Redo the cover system. Make it Easier to get in and out of cover, and including the blind fire mechanic. Example,,R6V’s cover system,, Omg,, it would have been so freakin sweet!
4) Add different weapons besides gun’s. Raiden’s sword and a bow and arrow would have been sic!
5)Make MK II a more important role in the gameplay, and give him more battery life and longer range.
6) Snake should have gotten laid in his last story. Dude from Mass Effect got some ass,, why can’t the most badass merc in the world get some cutty.
7) Made stealth more of a requirement in the game, It seemed that kojima was trying to make the game more casual for consumers cause I could swear that I used more stealth in the prior games. The Outer Haven level is a good example.
9)They should have made more nighttime levels. Snake has night vision and they should have made it more relevant. Why the heck do I use night vision mostly in the day time in the game? Plus should have added heat vision.
10) Made the game like 50 hours+. There is nothing wrong with wanting a game to last forever, is it?
