BioShock for PS3 - The Rumor Finally True?

by Jon Sitzman

We’re not the first with this news, but it’s big enough to run regardless. Several sources are now trumpeting that 2007’s well-received Xbox 360 title BioShock will now be coming to PS3, approximately in time for Holiday 2008. Here’s the GamePro.com writeup.

This actually makes me super happy, because - as stated in the review - BioShock is a worthy enough experience that all possible consumers ought to have a chance at it. The PS3 version will probably benefit from the typical overhaul performed on second-string releases as well, so figure a graphical touch-up at the very least and (in the best of worlds) some new content as well. Either way, this is a fine outcome for a product whose quality deserves exposure to the widest possible audience.

Stumble it!

  1. PS3 Fanboys don’t care about Bioshock. In fact, apparently if Bioshock came out for PS3 nobody would buy it. ;)

Same goes for Halo I hear, when that comes out for PS3 the fanboys wont want that either.

  2. I’ll let the base point lie, but not the extrapolation. I think there are plenty of potential buyers out there for a PS3 BioShock. Not everyone who purchased either system did so for entirely partisan reasons. I think that as long as a good percentage of your consumer base is within the target demographic for a quality game, that game is going to sell on either system. The counterexample is that if you somehow did BioShock on the Wii and it wasn’t totally awful, it still wouldn’t sell a fraction as well as the Wii’s sales-horses right now, because the overwhelming majority of the Wii userbase is totally outside the demographic to which BioShock is going to appeal. Just my 2c.
