Samurai Shodown Edge Of Destiny & KOFXII Videos
As promised, here’s the trailer footage for SS7 and KOFXII. Notice the violent finishers at the end? Yeah, it’s gonna be sweet. As far as KOFXII goes, these videos don’t do it justice. I think SNK may have the one up on Capcom for 2D HD fighting. Enjoy!
Fun At Sony’s Blogger Lounge
I capped off my busy day at Sony’s Blogger Lounge. Played some BUZZ! and got my ass handed to me. Jeff Gerstmann was there as well as a fuckton of other media analyst, bloggers and press geeks. They gave away a $5000 donation in the name of the winner of the BUZZ! contest to a charity of his/her choice. Good food, good fun, good Sony.
SNK Comes Back With A Vengeance

Spent some time at SNK’s press area at the Prescott today. They have some amazing things coming down the pipes. You already know about the Arcade Classics: Volume 1, Samurai Shodown and World Heroes Anthologies. Well SNK dropped another bomb today; Metal Slug 7 for the Nintendo DS. If you ever needed a reason to own a DS, this game is it. More after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »
It’s A 3 Console Generation, Get Over It
For those of you who somehow think that there will be a single victor this console generation, think again. Like the days of the SNES and Sega Genesis, we have not only 2, but 3 video game consoles that will fight this generation to a stalemate. Read the rest of this entry »
Microsoft Buys Danger
As originally reported by TechCrunch, while the ill-fated “zOMG MICROSOFT IS EATING YAHOO!” webstorm was roiling, Microsoft quietly acquired Danger Corporation, makers of (most) Sidekick handsets and their OS/web protocols. This move means potentially interesting things for MS’ E&D division (home also to Zune and the XBox line). One wonders if E&D’s charter is expanding (or perhaps more correctly, how much it is). Blu-Ray Wins
You’ve been keeping up with The Bitbag coverage on the high-definition format wars and the end has finally come. Sorry, HD-DVD fans . . . Toshiba has thrown in the towel. Wal-Mart is truly a powerful force and it seems to have dropped the final straw on the camel’s back by announcing last Friday that they would drop sales of HD-DVD players in June. In a Q&A session, Toshiba tried to downplay the situation, by referring to it as a “so-called” format war, and announced they have no plans to continue development for the HD market in the near future. They have quickly denied the possibly of developing Blu-Ray players at this time. Read the rest of this entry »
Into The Days Of Yore (part 2)

Mass Effect Still At Target
Went shopping with the old lady at Target yesterday, and guess what I saw?
Either Target came to its senses, or they’re a little slow on the draw:

Rumor: Resident Evil 5 and Super Street Fighter II HD Playable At GDC?

Rumor has it that Capcom will be showing playable versions of Resident Evil 5 and Super Street Fighter II HD at the Game Developers Conference next week. Funny thing is, I don’t see Capcom listed as an exhibitor. They might have kiosks in both Sony and Microsoft’s booths though. I won’t be there til Wednesday so if you find out it’s true, give us a shout.
Review: Madcatz Xbox 360 HDMI Conversion Kit

Microsoft first balked at the idea of including HDMI in it’s original Xbox 360. While Sony gave it’s gamers everything they needed for high definition gaming, you were stuck with either VGA or Component for your 360. I’ll admit, back then I didn’t care about HDMI either, that is until I ran out of component ports on my TV. Madcatz has come to the rescue with their Xbox 360 HDMI Conversion Kit. One More SFIV Update
Capcom released three arcade update documents this week with more information on their latest Street Fighter, but it proved difficult to open for some because it required a Japanese language update. The first update features Ryu and Ken and introduces Crimson Viper. The second update features all eight of the original fighters from SF2. The third update features Abel. Very little information has been provided regarding the two new boxers. One more screenshot of Abel featuring his special move has been posted below as well as the only screenshot of Crimson Viper that is available. Read the rest of this entry »
Guitar Hero: Aerosmith Rocks Us This June

Talk about milking a franchise! Could they just release an Aerosmith DLC pack? I guess this is cool though, Aerosmith is one of the greatest rock bands in history. It will be like getting a full greatest hits album with the option to play it too. Full release after the jump: Read the rest of this entry »
Additional SFIV Updates for Week of February 11
As TD metioned, Capcom showed us Valentine’s Day love, by revealing a new character, Abel. At first glance, it appears he bears the colors of France (blue, white, and red) and most likely practices the French martial art form of Savate. You heard it here first. In the original Street Fighter 2, Vega was also said to have Savate influences.
New SFIV Character, Abel

Meet Abel, SFIV’s newest character released from Capcom. We’ve included some screens for ya! Yep…enjoy! Read the rest of this entry »
Playstation Brand Outsells All Competition Combined
Playstation continues to dominate and is doing it right for 2008. They outsold the competition combined with a total of 296,000 PS3’s sold in the month of January. That’s 17% higher than Microsoft. PSN had a total of 7.9 million downloads which topped Decembers 6.6 Million. I’m sure Microsoft will answer with their numbers by tomorrow. Full release after the jump.
