So Im hearing 2 different things.

1 - The load times are negligable.
2 - By pressing start you can skip any load screen you want.

If that's thats true.

Wouldnt that DRAMATICALLY affect the load time?

Did anyone even try skipping them? Was this overlooked?

Not really. The PS3 is quieter than the 360 but it's still loud enough to hear the Blu-Ray spin. My whole point of the article was not just the fact that installation was better because of low sound, but because it offers less wear and tear than the 360. The low noise is just another plus. I do understand the frustration of the 25min install though. It's just that I've installed so many huge PC games, that it doesn't matter to me. If I were to pick one over the other it would be for achievements, not the lack of install.

"What people don’t understand is that the benefit of installing a game to the hard drive means less noise and wear and tear on your Blu-Ray drive."

Obviously you disagree... I mean, you DID write the article.

The PC was the first CD gaming console I had, and I own a 360 and a PS3. I think "noise" is reaching pretty far to justify something that doesn't truly fulfill its intended purpose. The PS3 is pretty quiet with a disc in there and that kind of invalidates your whole point.

I disagree. Either you don't come from a PC gaming background or you just don't like the PS3.

In other words, you discovered a minor bonus in an otherwise irredeemable feature.
