g-Ripe: My Take on Consolidation

I am . . . by no means . . . an expert on these things. So, suffice it to say, this will be a man-on-the-street perspective on the whole deal. So, please feel free to enlighten me if you have better insight. Read the rest of this entry »
Rumorsmash: Street Fighter IV PS3 Only

Capcom has not announced a console for SFIV. Currently, it is arcade only. Here’s a quote from Capcom sent to me 2 minutes ago:
The only platform announced for SFIV has been the Japanese arcade release coming this summer
Fanboyism In Journalism

I normally don’t have a problem when ‘Professional’ sites do comparisons between consoles, as most are well written, factual, and informative. However, after recently reading Gamepro’s Feature: PS3 vs. Xbox 360 ports: The cold, hard truth, I’m not quite sure what the goal was, other than incite Fanboys by providing anything but the ‘Cold, Hard Truth’. This is a lengthy, crystal clear version of the english SFIV trailer from AOU. Looks promising. Enjoy!
Speed Racer The Video Game Trailer
Sigh…I’m really sick and tired of movies being made into games. It never…fucking…works! However, this is Speed Racer. It was anime before it was a film, but they are still basing the game on the film. This trailer is just a trailer and shows no gameplay. This is the trailer they should have used for the movie. It’s Wii and DS only btw. Enjoy!
Can Somebody Call the Movie Industry a Wah-mbulance?
Variety’s The Cut Scene reported Tuesday that Dreamworks Animation head honcho Jeffrey Katzenberg blamed the video game industry for poor DVD sales of “Shrek the Third.” He stated, “Competition at retail from other sources such as videogames has had an impact on the overall homevideo market and on the performance of individual titles including ‘Shrek the Third.’” Really? Well, that kind of contradicts the press release that was published on their website. Read the rest of this entry »
Iron Lore Closes It’s Doors
In recent news, as of February 27, 2008, Iron Lore has decided to stop all development and pack it up. As cited from The Escapist, Iron Lore was unable to receive enough funding for their next project. Though to this editor, there is more than meets the eye.

And the hits just keep coming! The amount of downloadable content that is available for GHIII is overwhelming at this point. Pretty soon you won’t need another version of the game, just more music. Here’s the full release from Activision: Read the rest of this entry »
Into The Days Of Yore (Part 3)
The days of the NES are coming to a close, and the bright sun rise of the SNES now shining. Just because I stopped playing the NES at that time doesn’t mean I have forgotten about it entirely. The same will happen to the SNES, PlayStation 2, XBOX, Game Cube, Wii, XBOX 360, and so forth. It is undeniable of this to happen to every gamer as a new generation is born and technology progresses. Now then, on with the article!
Sony Hits A Grand Slam With MGS4 Bundle, DS3 Release Date and PSP God Of War Bundle
Holy press release Batman! Sony is coming with guns blazing this year. They just announced not one or two but three pieces of big news! First off, the PS3 is getting a MGS4 bundle. If that doesn’t move systems, nothing will. To top it off, this is an 80gb bundle that comes with a DS3 controller for only $499. Secondly, PSP is getting a God of War Entertainment Pack. Time to pick up a PSP slim if you are on the fence. Lastly, the Dualshock 3 will get a US release in April. Here’s the full release from Sony: Read the rest of this entry »
EA to Take-Two . . . . Actually . . . Five
EA made an aggressive move over the weekend by announcing that they are putting their money down on Take-Two Interactive. With the recent acquisition of BioWare and Pandemic, this would make Take-Two company number five under EA’s new “Label” model. Take-Two immediately rejected what they considered a low-ball figure stating that “EA’s proposal substantially undervalues” their company. Bottom-line: EA wants some GTA IV money. Take-Two wants to keep it for themselves and then talk. Duh.
Read the two press releases from each of the companies, an open letter from EA’s CEO John Riccitiello and take a link to the FAQ about the whole issue. Read the rest of this entry »
Valkyria Chronicles Comes To The PS3 Stateside
I’ve been waiting for this title to get a stateside release. RPG’s are lacking on the Playstation 3 and it’s about time we saw some good JRPG’s get import status. Here’s the full release from Sega with screenshots: Read the rest of this entry »
Apple Introduces An Updated Macbook.
I can’t help but feel a bit cheated. A few weeks ago, I purchased a new Macbook, only to have it overshadowed by a newer, faster model. Had I known this, I would’ve held out a couple weeks! Read the rest of this entry »
