Review: PGR4

Project Gotham Racing, the game that started it all on the Dreamcast several years ago has returned. It’s made a wonderful transition from the Dreamcast to the Xbox and finally to the Xbox 360. With every version of this game it just gets better and better. PGR4 takes the series into the 2nd generation of the Xbox 360. It combines arcade racing, photo realistic graphics and a robust online community into one superb package. Read the rest of this entry »

Cooper Lawrence Feels The Wrath Of Gamers

Well I’m sure you’ve heard about the Fox News lambasting of Mass Effect by Cooper Lawrence by now. Turns out that gamers are so pissed that they have brought her Amazon book ratings down. Her book now has 359 one star reviews. It doesn’t end there either. If you look at the tags associated with her book you’ll see terms like bigot, hypocrite, garbage and ignorant. I sent an email to Cooper and her publicist in an effort to help Cooper redeem herself. I’ve offered her a chance to actually PLAY Mass Effect and apologize to the public for the lies and misinformation she spread. For now, enjoy some of these review snippets from her Amazon page. Playstation Hardware Revenue Surpassed Microsoft And Nintendo In December

The new Playstation in review just arrived in my inbox.  There’s a lot of good bullets for Sony to brag about for December.  The one that amazed me was the fact that their hardware revenue was higher than Nintendo.  People are buying DS Lites like they were cigarettes and Sony still managed to earn more for their hardware division in December.  It could have something to do with the PSP, PS2 and PS3 all costing more than Nintendo’s systems.  Here’s the skinny straight from Sony: Read the rest of this entry »

Microsoft Says, “No comment” On Price Drop

Well Microsoft finally got back to me today and all they had to say was, “no comment”.  This means one of three things: it’s true and they don’t want to talk about it until the release, it’s false, or they just don’t have time to discuss rumors.  So now all we can do is wait until April and see what happens.

Review: Death To Spies

Death To Spies is a PC stealth/action espionage game by Haggard Games that does a lot of things right, and brings a realistic take on the stealth genre. While Death To Spies immerses you in an authentic world of stealth and espionage, it does miss a few beats along the way that mar the game a bit. Read the rest of this entry »

Review: The King of Fighters XI

It’s hard to believe that the first King of Fighters game arrived in arcades way back in ‘94. Sure, we all were used to the plethora of Neo Geo fighters – Fatal Fury, World Heroes, Art of Fighting, and even my beloved Samurai Shodowns – but SNK still managed to come up with a relatively new concept: team battles. For a series that’s over 13 years old, it’s great to see some kick left in the series! Read the rest of this entry »

Geoff Keighley Sets Cooper Lawrence And Fox News Straight

Geoff Keighley appeared on Fox news to discuss the issue of sex in Mass Effect. The news reporter claimed that Mass Effect had full digital nudity and graphic sex. Her other guest was Cooper Lawrence, a psychology specialist. Cooper claimed that adolescent males play video games, not their dads. She also claimed that boys see women as objects and it’s a man in the game who decides how many women he wants to be with. Geoff called Cooper out when he asked her if she ever played the game and she replied with an uncomfortable no.

What we have here is the media making claims about something they don’t know about. Cooper is supposed to be an educated psychologist but she never played the game at all. In other words, she didn’t do her homework. This is nothing but the media spreading lies and misinformation to the public. Thank god Geoff was there to set them straight. What sucks even worse is one of the male news reporters commenting on the game afterwards claimed it was Luke Skywalker meets Debbie Does Dallas. He also stated that he wouldn’t purchase this game for his child. HELLO DUMBASS! It has an M rating for a reason.

I’ve contacted Geoff to get a statement from him about the discussion. For now, watch the clip and infuriate yourself. Read the rest of this entry »

Ken Kutaragi Signs HD-DVD Petition

While browsing the HD-DVD petition for funny signatures I came upon Ken Kutaragi’s.  Now it’s probably not real but it’s pretty funny.

It’s The First Annual Xbox Live Arcade Awards

Well this is cool!  It’s nice to throw the smaller developers a bone.  I’d have to go with Carcasonne and Super Puzzle Fighter HD for my top pics.  I wonder who the panel of industry journalists will be?  Here’s the full release from Microsoft: Read the rest of this entry »

Rumors: Microsoft Dropping 360 Premium To $299 For GTAIV Launch?!?

You know, sometimes you get stuff in your tip jar and it’s just too far fetched. However, I can’t ignore the possibility of this rumor being true. So for now I’ll stick it under the rumors column and you can take whatever you want from it. Read the rest of this entry »
