Ratchet & Clank Future Tanking In Japan?
Ratchet & Clank Future was released in Japan last week to a dismal reception. Hailed as the number one Playstation 3 title to date, Sony only moved 11,814 copies in it’s first week. Ironically, this was the same week the 40gb PS3 was dropped and also the same week that Dynasty Warriors 6 came out. In contrast, DW6 sold 181,926 copies. Even DW6 on the 360 moved 28,924 copies. HD-DVD Beating Out Blu-Ray in $149 Black Friday Vote
Amazon.com has just announced their new black friday votes. Among them are a Wii for $79, PS3 for $139, an Xbox 360 Arcade for $99, a Samsung Blu-Ray player for $149 and a Toshiba A3 HD-DVD player for $149. The winning votes so far for each category are the Wii with 55% and the Toshiba HD-A35 with 45%. This could all change by the time the voting ends, but it looks like the Toshiba won’t lose it’s steam. Is this telling us something about the HD market? Are consumers more keen on HD-DVD than Blu-Ray? We’ll see next month! Click this link to vote: Amazon’s Black Friday

Review: Bleach- Blade of Fate

Ah yes, another game based on a hit anime series! Unlike some other anime-related titles, this one stands out with its unique fighting+card combo system. As we all know that in every fighting game each character has his/her own fighting style, and now with the card system in play it makes each character much more personalized to the player. Let me go into the card combo first, since that is the most interesting aspect of the game. Read the rest of this entry »

Review: Viva Pinata: Party Animals
I’m not a fan of the original Viva Pinata game. It just wasn’t my type of game and I think it was made for a younger demographic. The problem with that is now every Viva title will have that stigma of being a game directed at the younger crowd. This is one situation where I would implore you to throw that belief out the window and at least download the demo before you judge this game. Simply put, Viva Pinata: Party Animals is a hoot for all ages. Read the rest of this entry »

As Xbox LIVE Turns Five, Microsoft Announces Next Wave of Social Fun
Xbox LIVE Membership Soars Past Eight Million Mark, Microsoft Unveils New Download Service for Full Xbox Games Direct to Your Living Room, Beginning Dec. 4
REDMOND, Wash. — Nov. 13, 2007 — On November 15, Microsoft Corp. will celebrate the fifth anniversary of Xbox LIVE. In addition, the company notes that the latest membership figures show more than eight-million members are now actively engaged in the largest social entertainment network on TV. Xbox LIVE has grown from a small community of gamers in two countries, playing a handful of games online with their friends, to a worldwide social entertainment network offering online access to gaming, movies, music and TV shows. As friends across 26 countries and nine languages have connected on Xbox LIVE, it is their feedback and active participation that has guided the service to become what Wired magazine recently called “The king of the online arena.” As a gesture of thanks to the gaming community, all eight million members will have the opportunity to download a free Xbox LIVE Arcade game* between 12:01 a.m. PST on Nov. 15 and 11:59 p.m. PST on Nov. 16**. In addition to this, every active member who joined the service in 2002 will receive 500 MS Points for free. Read the rest of this entry »
NPD Will Continue To Provide Hardware Sales Data

This comes from gamedaily.com. Looks like the big 3 agree to allow disclosure of the hardware sales! Cool beans!
Last week The NPD Group confirmed that it would be scaling back its monthly video game sales data, especially with regards to hardware because “it used to be policy that NPD not provide hardware sales figures,” spokesperson David Riley said at the time.
The NPD had been waiting to hear back from the console manufacturers, and now Riley has informed GameDaily BIZ that the “Big 3″ are in fact on board. Therefore the NPD will continue to provide media with the monthly hardware sales tally and GameDaily BIZ will be able to continue to pass those always interesting numbers onto our readers.
Riley told us the NPD would be providing these figures “indefinitely.” October’s video game data is expected after market close this Thursday (November 15).

Super Mario Trains With The Astronauts
Well how do you think Shigeru Myamoto got all those moves programmed into Super Mario Galaxy?
Nintendo paired its video game character Super Mario with former Apollo astronaut Dr. Buzz Aldrin in preparation for the company’s upcoming Wii game, “Super Mario Galaxy,” which launches on Nov. 12. Prior to the game’s launch, a costume version of Mario attended a space training session in Las Vegas where he learned weightless moves like flying and spinning. As part of the game, Nintendo indicates, Mario travels in and out of gravitational fields by jetting from planet to planet to battle various enemies and aliens.

Assassin’s Creed Gets 360 Only Launch In Japan

According to Siliconera, the Assassin’s Creed launch date for the 360 is set for November 29th. The PS3 However, has no launch date announced yet. Could this have something to do with the 360 software attach rate in Japan, or does it have something to do with the 18+ CERO Z rating demographic? Ubisoft seems to think that 18+ demographic is a niche and is fully exploiting it.
