Review: OZ

With all the games that Konami comes out with, there are a few gems left undiscovered and this is one of them. This game is mixed with beautiful artwork, astounding music and enjoyable game play. But is it worth the import? Let’s find out! Read the rest of this entry »

You are tricked, you are real dork!

I felt a great disturbance in The Force, as if millions of gamers cried out “Boo!” in unison.

It appears the 60GB PS3 price drop was not an actual price drop, but a measure to clear out stock. Once the 60GB models evaporate from store shelves it’s back to $599.99 with Motorstorm and 80GB drive.

Sony – repeat after me: Prices go down! DOWN!

A most unfortunate source.

Format Wars 1.2 – a second skirmish?

Engadget’s latest on the format wars. Seems HD-DVD may be making a slight but noticeable comeback in recent weeks. Making stand-alone players more affordable can’t very well hurt the HD-DVD camp. (One does wonder if the add-on unit for Microsoft’s XBox 360 will see a similar price chop.)

It would appear the war isn’t over just yet. As both hi-def format players drop into price-ranges more compatible with the average income, things could change. Indisputably though, in pure sales, good old DVD is still king of the hill and not going anywhere for at least a while. (Couldn’t easily find a comparison, but the standard DVD sales numbers are in the range of 10 times the total sold of both HD formats combined if I’m remembering right.)

Review: Forza 2 Motorsports

Jack the giant GT killer has returned. This time he comes in HD at 60fps with over 300 cars, online racing and customizable paint jobs. Forza 2 is everything that I could have hope for, plus some. The online community is a huge cherry on top of an already stupendous single player game.

Sony’s Playstation 3 scores an indie ace?

The Playstation Network scores Queasy Games’ well-reviewed title EveryDay Shooter for release sometime later this year (reportedly soon). EDS combines simple, stylized vector graphics and event-sensitive musical response to onscreen events. Being compared both to Geometry Wars Evolved and Rez, EDS looks extremely promising at this point and definitely looks to be a feather in PSN’s cap. More details here.

ACE COMBAT 6 DEMO ON XBOX LIVE MARKETPLACE!!

Yep, just saw it up there and I’m at 10% download.  This was probably announced today but I missed it because I was on the road back to San Diego.  Blue Dragon and NCAA 08 are also available for download.  Enjoy!

“Take? I’m having it returned!” Metal Gear Solid 4 *still* PS3 exclusive.

Much to the chagrin of some of my co-conspirators here at the Bitbag, Metal Gear Solid 4 is still a Playstation 3 exclusive title. All the Photoshop mock-ups in the world won’t change that fact.

Hideo Kojima also claims it’s the final installment of the game; but anybody that’s paying attention would remember when he said the same thing about Metal Gear Solid 2.

Microsoft’s E3 Press Briefing: The Skinny & The Fat

Well after about 30min of driving from Hollywood we arrived at Samo High where Microsoft held their big E3 press briefing. It was in the theater in the back of the high school. They really hooked the place up as they usually do. They filled the cemented bleachers with Icelandic Glacier water and Microsoft asspads for comfort. The event was outdoors and believe it or not, before the night was over I was freezing my ass off. Read the rest of this entry »

“Our enemies have been re-educated!”

The opening was once again fantastic, but we couldn’t help but sit there and think, “When are we finally going to see some in-game footage?” The only thing was that we had been looking at in-game footage. As soon as our soldier hits the ground and his gun comes into view, very much like what we saw with the opening to Resistance, we couldn’t help but think, “Holy hell, all of that was in-game?”

Download the authentic Killzone 2 trailer today @ 3PM PST on the Playstation Network!

Damn, I wish I was at E3. :P

Pricewatching: PS3 w/ Remote & SIX free Blu Ray movies. $499.99

Looking to save some cash?

Here’s a pretty swell deal, around $200 in free stuff at Amazon.com

Amazon.com PS3 bundle

Additionally, Circuit City this week has a free Six Axis controller ($49.99 you can save so your bum friends can play too), and you can also take advantage of the five free Blu-Ray movie offer.

As always, you can eBay or trade in the movies to get some gaming swag.

One step forward, two steps back.

Apparently Sony has decided that consumers are ripe for fleecing. The $499.99 60GB PS3 model is on sale at some Target locations, so that appears to be a lock. However there is now news that Sony is replacing the ridiculous $599.99 model with a new $599.99 model featuring:

  • 80GB Hard Drive
  • Motorstorm

Sony, please put down the crack pipe.

Prices go down.

Repeat after me: Prices go down.

A most unfortunate source link.
