I felt a great disturbance in The Force, as if millions of gamers cried out “Boo!” in unison.
It appears the 60GB PS3 price drop was not an actual price drop, but a measure to clear out stock. Once the 60GB models evaporate from store shelves it’s back to $599.99 with Motorstorm and 80GB drive.
Sony – repeat after me: Prices go down! DOWN!

I’m not sure the news is *all* bad. Next Generation obviously had to pull the original article, but I’ll post a link below to their revised commentary on the current situation, with opinions sub-linked. According to a statement by Kaz Hirai, the idea is to have a single-SKU sales platform (an immensely wise decision, which I hope Sony does implement) at the $499.99 price point. The obvious assumption is the 80GB unit with no pack-in, which sounds like a pretty decent deal to my thinking.

I don’t get the title.
Oiks, I am real dork! Hirai was claiming the $600 price point, not the $500, will be the resting place. Crap, here I go trying to drum up some good Sony news out of this, and I turn out wrong.
The thread title is a reference to either:
- A video game.
- Some porno manga I once read.
I can’t remember. Now gimme back my bottle of bourbon!
